WTF? Julia Roberts is a lesbian? (My gaydar just went off)

I was looking at pictures of her and started to get a vibe looking at her dressed in a suit. Then I saw this:

Very lesbian looking.

I think she might be a closet lesbian.

reply

Nah! Men blazers and vests were the fashion in those days.

reply

gaydar
/ˈɡeɪdɑː/

nounINFORMAL
the supposed ability of gay people to recognize one another by means of very slight indications.

👏👏👏

reply

Except I’m not gay so...

reply

Then perhaps quit appropriating the word 🤷‍♂️

reply

A gaydar is just a sensor we have.

reply

No the above is the correct definition.

Does the gentleman protest too much? Who knows!

So tell me, are you a twink or a bear?

reply

You're projecting.

reply

Did your gaydar tell you that?

Honey, I don’t need to project. I’m entirely comfortable with my self. And my gaydar.

reply

So is there a word for when straight people detect gay people? Ive heard gaydar be used as a way of anybody straight or gay detecting.

reply

I don’t know mate, ask a straight person!

All I know is that word definitely originated in the gay community and it’s particularly irksome to hear it being used by someone who regularly speaks negatively about gays.

My internal voice says “fuck off and get your own word you bigot” but of course I’m too polite to say that 😉

reply

*gets comfortable* 🍿

reply

lol

Cheeky bastard. Sorry to spoil the fun but I’ve said enough already. I’m out! I’ve been so good at ignoring the OP but I just couldn’t help myself on this one. Gaydar indeed. Hilarious 😆

reply

Well, maybe the term is being used correctly, eh?

reply

I thought anyone could use the term ‘gaydar’ and never thought or knew it originated within the gay community.
I’ve just recently found out about Polari, which is very interesting 🙂

reply

I just Googled Polari - I had no idea.

reply

I’m sure most people who aren’t LBGTQ+ or know any LBGTQ+ people don’t either!
Although as I’ve heard/read it’s downfall from popularity was because it got into the mainstream of society and so was no longer useful for the minority.
It’s fascinating anyway, the origins of language and slang and this is no different; also the way that Polari words and phrases are such a mainstay of the English language at large.
For example the term ‘dishy’ which in Polari could mean bottom - so gay men could say in public that another man had a nice bottom.....but it is very commonly used by, say a heterosexual woman, with reference to a good looking man (his face)!

reply

The term “throwing shade” apparently is from the gay community as well. Do I need written permission to use it?

What about “clapped back”? Is that a gay term too?

reply

I really don’t care what you do pal. Why you’d want to use terms that come from people you consider “mentally ill” is anyone’s guess.

reply

Mental illness and creativity often go hand in hand. Case in point, Vincent van Gogh.

reply

Goodbye 👋

reply

I don't know about the lesbian thing but I always thought she was a bit off. And her niece Emma Roberts seems more than a bit off.

reply

how so?

reply

Who's that black dude she's dating?

reply

You must be confused, Liam Neeson is only black from the waist down.

reply

Never got a lesbian vibe off her, but she's a muff diver for sure. You ain't that hot without the trimmest of the trim throwing themselves at you.

reply

Do you have these ideas or concerns about anyone else in the public eye?

reply

It's okay to be a lezzy as long as they put out for guys too. But men being Gaylords are totally uncool!

reply

Since the 1990s, her reputation has been that of a heterosexual slut.

Maybe she's taken a walk on the other side of the street now and again, but that woman likes dick!
