I was merely addressing the Europa incident which you claimed they used such protocols in the scenario that took place which was not the case.
When the Europa was being destroyed Saru detected a "voluntary antimatter containment breach" and the Captain concluded "They are going to self-destruct". Your question in the title is "Doesn't the Federation have Self destruct protocols?" and the answer to that is yes. so that question no longer stands. Why did they not self destruct the Shenzhou? I have no idea. Saru's job was to get they ship away and he failed AND because a first officer. I did not ask why was it wrong. Rorikon said "Most people in the military follow orders and do what they're told, not go against everyone higher rank than them cause of the SJW feels." I just wanted to know what 'SJW Feels' had to do with her actions. I thought you were asking *IF* the Federation has self-destruct protocols. The title indicates that you did not know if they did or did not. ahh, I beleive you are referring to the Security Chief. honestly I do not hear the vocal fry from either of them but that might just be because i never notice it. Who is the navigator lady? Yes, I think that was what was said. They do have self destruct protocols, the Europa used it and the Klingon ship that was ramming it also got destroyed. What I do not understand is up until they showed the USS Shenzhou I had thought the ship and its crew were able to be saved but now i have no idea how the crew got to safety? When did she go against a higher ranking officer because of the SJW feels? She went against Captain Georgiou based on her assessment of the situation. She felt the tactic the Captain was using would fail based on the information she got from Sarek. On the Discovery, her actions were that of a scientist not a SJW. Captain Lorca wants her to find out why this creature can survive against Klingons. Where did she go against that? She just took a different approach. They did have replicators in TOS. Several scenes had the crew in a break room getting food including coffee and ice cream. My thoughts would be that it would be easier to create clothes than food that is edible. How do you think they got the clothes on Next Gen? Even in TOS they had replicators. Don't you think that being able to replicate clothes would come before replicating food? Yes, he directs a lot of things. If you look at his IMDB page he has directed a lot of shows, mostly sci-fi stuff and sci-fi adjacent. If you look at the directing credits for the series you will see Jon Cassar - if you are familiar with the series "24" you will have seen his name many times Brannon Braga - he has Star Trek written all over his resume Jon Favreau - he directed Iron Man, Iron Man 2, Elf and many others Robert Duncan McNeill - Lt. Paris from Star Trek Voyager. If you watch the Series Chuck he directed a lot of those. I only listed the people I am familiar with. I am still not sure what i think of the show but I give it props for the the people they get to work behind the scenes. Hello again Brux. I agree with you and will go one step farther and say at some point Issac will remove his helmet (head?) and Brent Spiner will be under the mask. brux, I actually agree with you that commercial free SHOULD BE commercial free but that is not how the world works anymore. I was trying to explain to you why they can get away with that phrasing. Unlimited data for phones SHOULD BE unlimited data and not get X number of GB at one speed and the rest at a slower speed. I personally hate how people misuse the term reboot. A reboot of a franchise SHOULD BE a clean slate with all previous continuity ignored and not a sequel, a prequel or a revival of a series with the same people involved but unfortunately so many people have gotten that word wrong there is no chance to get the word back. As far as your two rude responses to me, I replied to your original post with information. You in turn call me stupid and accuse me of being a CBS Shill. I pointed out specifically where I read the actual information about the package. Maybe I was a little snarky but your initial response to me did not endear me to you. For that I apologize. You are now still calling me stupid, although I showed where my information came from. You call me an ahole when your intial reaction to me had ahole written all over it. I have the "Limited Commercials" option and just wanted to check to see if I was mistaken. There is a button on my account page that say "go Commercial Free", so I clicked it. In the choice of options it said the following:
Limited Commercials $59.99 A year Commercial Free $99.99 A year [bold]Live TV includes commercials and select shows have promotional interruptions.[/bold]
To me that says even if I am buying the "commercial free" package I will get commercials when streaming live and promotional interruptions on certain shows. I would have presumed Star Trek:Discovery was more likely to have it than The Brady Bunch. I concluded that this applied to the "commercial Free" version because 1) The note was under the "Commercial Free" price 2) There would be no reason to apply it to the "Limited commercials" option as both commercials and promotions would be expected. If you want to be mad about it, be mad about it, cancel as you have done. But, please, do not indicate that my stupidity would make you puke when your inability to read something and comprehend what you read is the problem. I read it and decided not to buy the commercial free version you did not and bought it. To Quote Willy Wonka: It's all there! Black and white, clear as crystal! Actually I looked into the commercial free version before getting the regular one. The reason I did not get the commercial free version was because I saw the documentation about the promotions for certain shows. I do not know why you didn't see it but they did not lie about it either. If you want to claim the lie was the "commercial free" claim, well depending on the promotion it is not considered a commercial. I do not know what the promotions were but if they were for other shows on the network I do not believe they count as a commercial because CBS is not receiving money from an outside source to air them. Why does it "definitely" appear that Michael's character was written for a "white male"? What characteristics of white males does she posses that indicate the role was written for one? From the same page you pointed to: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Reboot_(fiction)
In serial fiction, to reboot means to discard all continuity in an established series in order to recreate its characters, timeline and backstory from the beginning.[1][2] The term is used with respect to various different forms of fictional media such as comic books, television series, video games and films among others.[1]
So the Abrams Star Trek films do not discard all continuity because they have Spock prime in them. His existence establishes the original continuity still exists and could be explored in these films. ----------------------------------------------------------------------- As far as the giant Klingon thing, I was only addressing your "and somehow penetrate klingon armor and kill him." item. From how you wrote the item ("somehow penetrate") it sounded like you thought she penetrated the armor just with the suit. Honestly, it looked more like she panicked and hit the wrong button on the suit. Besides, it would not matter if I ran forwards at the lion or backwards to climb a tree because they can climb too. :)
