OK folks, NO opinions? Has anyone ever USED Carousell before, is it safe? Another way of buying this movie at the moment is on VHS on Ebay but its WAY too expensive, over 150 dollars or so. And I myself these days with my family really need to SAVE money. Thanks. Carousell site has a VCD copy of it for around 40 dollars and Ebay is selling it on VHS for over 100 pounds or so, 150 dollars in American currency, worth trying to purchase in your opinion? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4hGnwkumnCo Here's another gem from them - "Lluvia del Porvenir". Have a listen to some of Radio Futura's songs on YouTube one day Fred, hey, I think they even have their 80s albums there. By the way, I pronounce their name in Spanish as "Raaadio Footoora". Cool, you've heard some of their stuff Onan? "Scatman (Ski-Ba-Bop-Ba-Dop-Bop)" by Scatman John - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Hy8kmNEo1i8 Lol, anyone remember this mid 90s Eurodance scat pop classic? And RIP Scatman John, who sadly passed away in December 1999 at the age of 57 four years after this hit. Amusing and very catchy, 8/10 tune. :) Well... It is partially perhaps true, but then again, most of the mainstream there isn't high art either. And the song could've fitted in a 90s Robert Rodriguez film as well. ) "Veneno En La Piel" by Radio Futura - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WbE1QLvYgQs Great early 90s pop/rock track from the Spanish band, title means "Poison in Your Skin" in Spanish. Permanently shelved means what, sorry to ask? "I Want You Back" by Hoodoo Gurus - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ov_ByEAACok Classic slice of 1980s Aussie jangle pop/rock. Featured on their 1984 (40 years old already, wow) debut album "Stoneage Romeos" with an attractive dinosaur themed cover. "Aaah aaah I want you back". :) Yeah, you enjoyed that song too? No worries, yeah I understand, and it is a bit depressive and not exactly a movie for fun family viewing. No worries, so I guess in your case, a 6/10 rating for that movie? Many consider it a perfect masterpiece of early 90s British social cinematic black comedy drama perfection and Mike Leigh's darkest AND best film. And I bet that partially at least it inspired Gaspar Noe's "I Stand Alone" ("Seul Contre Tous") (1998) among others as there are some similarities between Johnny and The Butcher characters of both movies. And RIP Dick Pope. I speak Russian and English but know some words and phrases in French and German and a few basic ones in few other languages but that's about it. I was wondering though about all those criterias mentioned in the OP of mine here, how well they apply, especially to famous active examples as such? Did you like it? (By the way, one of its technical crew members, Dick Pope, cinematographer on it and on most of Mike Leigh's films, passed away last year at 70 something.) A little and some college small qualifications plus work experience but hardly much to become say top Amnesty International officer or Geneva Convention err agent (?)... Plus, I think those organizations are mostly American but I am in UK, I was born in Russia though. Although at the moment, maybe in 20 years but never know, I am not officially planning to pursue careers in either one. Just wondering what others may know or think about them along them lines. Remember also how in "Face/Off" (1997) that prison guard says to the transformed character played SPOILERS by Nicolas Cage when he is in Erewhon prison, among other things "The Geneva Convention is void here" (later even says "Amnesty International" doesn't know we exist) - its kinda darkly humorous and mysterious as well given (from what little I know) that Geneva Convention operates to help war victims and not anyone who is in prison and the way that guard says it "The Geneva Convention is void here" is priceless. :) I still can't help but feel fascinated by his uttering of that line. OF COURSE NOT mate, why would I be? Have you seen the film "Naked" (1993) by Mike Leigh with David Thewlis samo? It has a quote in it about it - "I'm not talking about astrology, I'm talking about astronomy".
