He called her Dany when he begged for his life, right before Drogo gave him the »golden crown« (S01E06). So it sure wasn’t sarcastically. As far as I can tell, it was the first and only time we heard him using that nickname. Maybe he did use if before, e.g. back when they were kids or whenever he wanted (appear to) be nice, but of course that’s a speculation. I guess the Night King was aware that there are still 7 episodes left, so it’s too early to kill off a bunch of major characters. I agree with GunWillTravel. On top of that, when Gendry asked how Davos’s son died (back in the cell at Dragonstone), Davos replied: »Following me.« He didn't say: »He was killed by a dwarf.« So obviously, Davos is mostly blaming himself for Matthos’ death – which is no untypical parental behavior I guess. Meanwhile, I did some research myself… As far as I remember, we saw the blacksmith at work but his face wasn’t shown. Couldn’t check my BluRay edition because I loaned it to my brother. So I found out which episode it was, and then downloaded a subtitle file… Tywin says: »There are three living smiths who know how to rework Valyrian steel. The finest of them was in Volantis. Came here to King's Landing at my invitation.« So it seems we both are right! :-) You are right according to the books, and me according to the show. (Well, except that it’s Volantis, not Braavos.) »Since it was Tobho Mott who did that with Ice, to create Widow's Wail and Oathkeeper« Was it? I could have sworn Tywin said something about a blacksmith that was shipped in from Braavos or something like that… I agree! And because of #3, I’m glad that GoT will have a real ending, although I’m going to miss the show. Maybe Varys still has some of his little birds working for him? Although, if he had, they’d have known about the Anti Dragon Qyburn Scorpio prior to the attack… So I think I’ll go with ADBruno’s theory. Hmm, Davos liked Gendry a lot, and he is a caring man. So in my opinion, it does make sense to get him out of KL, because Davos probably doesn’t get the chance to visit KL again before they start the attack (at that point, he had to assume that they’ll attack soon). »thought he did mention at some point wanting to be a maester, though.« I seem to remember that, too. And the way I remember it, he even said »for all my life, I wanted to be a maester«. But since I can’t pinpoint the scene or episode, I might be wrong. I don’t think that it’s actually Robert’s war hammer. I think it’s far more likely that a blacksmith forges his own hammer (which looks like, well, like war hammers are supposed to look) than a bastard son who all of a sudden miraculously owns the war hammer of his father, the king, years after the father died. I agree on 10 and 11. Well, he did wear a cape occasionally… I guess that was some kind of foreshadowing. ;-) »If euron does indeed have dragonbinder« … it would be a real stupid Deus ex machina. I mean, they never even talked of that horne, and bringing it suddenly up now, would be… well, stupid. They should’ve at least mentioned it at the Kingsmoot. IF they capture him, they surely can’t let him run free. Maybe they don’t chain him to a wooden post but to a dragon’s tail. ;-) Also – Jamie being chained to a wooden post, covered in his own shit, for months… we already had that. Would be kinda repetitive. I liked that theory, too… … but it just came to my mind: Haven’t we seen the moon on various occasions? I’m almost certain we have, but I couldn’t pick out a specific scene. They most certainly _have_ a moon, because Drogo called Dany »Moon of My Life«. So, can a moon have a moon? I don’t know (and for the moment, I’m too lazy to google that). Rumor has it, he has been spotted repeatedly on the list of "nice to have" features that always get ditched for budgetary reasons. What makes you think he CAN change things? Last time he did something in the past, it only turned out that he was (and always has been) the cause for something that he knew all his life: A »dimwit« that can speak only one word. So if he goes back again, it might turn out that he is the cause for other things as well, but never changes anything. Which would another Dr. Manhattan analogy, because he can’t change the past, too. I can’t remember if that line was in the movie, but in the comics, he said: »We’re all puppets. I’m just a puppet who can see the strings.« For Bran, it seems to work a bit different: He can _influence_ the past, but (maybe) can’t _change_ it, because he lives in the »timeline« (to use SciFi speak) that he helped to create. He has already seen the outcome of his actions, even if he didn’t know that at the time when he saw them. Now that you’ve mentioned it – there IS some resemblance. Let’s just hope, for the sake of the people of Westeros, that he doesn’t have the same powers… I really doubt that Gendry would WANT to marry her. When he was sitting in the cell at Dragonstone, he said that the highborn people are nothing but a PITA for commoners (well, he didn't use these word but…), only to get proven right away that he’s right. If I was in his shoes, I’d RUN from every highborn person who approaches me because I’m a king’s bastard. As fast as I can.
