What was Euron up to during the timelines presented in the previous TV seasons where we didn't even see him? He sure commands a very elite and capable naval fleet without being sponsored by a major kingdom or financial backer. On top of that, his sudden rebuilding of the same naval fleet after Yara stole it would have required just as much money, if not more, than Stannis needed from the Iron Bank to finance his army to take on King's Landing.
Sailing the world. Plundering. Drinking Shade of the Evening. Cutting tongues out of all his crew-members (his flagship is called The Silence for a reason).
That's what I remember, anyway. There may have been more to it.
Several book readers mentioned Dragonbinder, a horn that can summon dragons.
I haven't read the books, so I was wondering where did Euron find it, who built it, and how far from dragons do you have to blow the horn for them to hear it? Does it produce sound or is it like dog whistle that only dogs can hear? I'm curious about stuff like that.
Can't remember all of the particulars, but I'll give it a whirl. First off there are many horns in the realm...some bind dragons, kill dragons, repel dragons I believe. One horn is supposed to destroy the wall...and none have been mentioned up to this point so there is no reason to think they ever will be on the show. As for Dragonbinder...it is a large ,black, curvy horn...made of wood if I recall correctly. It is I believe ornamented with rune stones and ancient valerian texts that glow firey red when blown. But the owner must not blow the horn itself as the act kills the performer. A surrogate must be employed for the charm to be successful...that's all I remember...hope that helps...try a wiki for asoiaf...better info!
I had no idea there are many horns and each one has a different purpose. I remember that at one point in the series Jon and Sam found something resembling a horn, buried in the snow at Fist of the First Men. People on the internet made a big fuss about it. But nothing came out of it and it was never mentioned again.
I thought that maybe Euron stole that horn, but I tend to agree with Atarimaster that if they wanted to introduce a horn, they would've done it already.
… it would be a real stupid Deus ex machina. I mean, they never even talked of that horne, and bringing it suddenly up now, would be… well, stupid. They should’ve at least mentioned it at the Kingsmoot.
In the books, Euron was last seen sailing towards Mereen. He lost a hand to an infection and got a new magical one, like Wormtail in the Harry Potter books, that's the only thing of interest that happened during his trip.
Wait...wasn't it victarian that got the magic hand...I gotta re read the series! But yeah, euron is on his way to mereen to charm some dragons and slay some tail...khalisi tail that is. Oh and the slaying was a metaphor also...
