I Feel Like I'm The Only One That Actually Liked This Movie

So I went in expecting to hate this movie and was expecting to leave the theater calling it the worst Transformers movie and the worst movie of 2017. Instead, I ended up ranking this the 2nd best Transformers movie. And no I'm not a "dumb/stupid" or "retarded" moviegoer. I enjoy Oscar winning/worthy movies. I even own a few Oscar winning movies (talking about Best Picture category too). So that's not why I enjoyed the movie. I haven't really liked a Transformers movie since the 1st. I did like 4 because I was getting tired of Shia's character. I can only stand him/tolerate him in the first movie, so Mark Wahlberg made 4 A LOT better.

Anyway, I'm kind of surprised that when I went on the internet to read what everyone else thought everyone has been hating it (talking about actual moviegoers). I thought the movie had an actual plot/story for once and stayed focused on it.Things kept moving plot wise and didn't just randomly stop for a scene of unnecessary humor. The movie did have unnecessary humor at times, but this time around, I was able to tolerate it. Also, the movie didn't have Bay's "Inception-like" explosions where one explosion split into smaller ones and then those smaller ones split into more and so on. And there wasn't explosions just because (Mark Wahlberg's house being blown up in the 4th movie). Everything about this movie was a little more on track than 2, 3, and 4. Heck, even the love interest was important to the plot for once and wasn't there to be hot. She actually did stuff. So it was kind of surprising that everyone else seems to hate it.

I did have a problem with the constant changing of aspect ratios. Plus the movie could've used a little more Optimus, although I knew ahead of time he'd be in it for 10-15 minutes max. But other than that I actually really enjoyed this movie a lot more than I thought and thought it was a better Transformers movie. I sort of don't get the hate for it. Well, I do, but I don't.

Glad you liked it, as I'm sure I will, in a few days when I make it to the movies. Most people that hate these movies are idiots that just try to "fit in", and look "cool", because that's what the masses are doing.

They hate, before even watching it, and then say "they won't watch", yet they still PAY, to see it, nitpick everything, and back to message boards biitchin' and complaining.

If you don't like it, fine, but if you're going to biitch about it, at least have a sensible conversation, giving reasonable viewpoints.

They're FAR from masterpieces, but I've enjoyed them all, some more than others, and I'll continue watch.

When did the film change aspect ratios? Was this an IMAX bork like Dark Knight?

I saw it in a regular theater. The aspect ratio kept changing between 3 types. There was the common 1.85:1 and 2.35:1. The 3rd was in between those. Maybe a 2.00:1. Maybe IMAX didn't have to deal with the constant changing aspect ratios. And The Dark Knight aspect ratio changing wasn't as bad as Transformers: The Last Knight. In one scene it would change several times. Usually when it cut to another character or different camera angle. It wasn't like The Dark Knight where a FULL scene would be in IMAX and then the next scene was 2.35:1. It was all over the place and changing aspect ratios constant within a scene. And it happened with EVERY scene. Someone should've done a better job editing the movie. With the type of theater I was in, they should've just cropped the picture to a 1.85:1 or 2.35:1. The Dark Knight and The Dark Knight Rises were cropped to a 2.35:1 aspect ratio for the type of movie theater I have in my area.

I absolutely loved this movie; best one yet, and one of my favorites all-time now.

I freaking LOVED this movie. I thought it was fantastic in every way. Still like the 3rd one best. This movie I felt was the first one with a proper story arc that could have been right at home in the cartoon series.
