Yeah. That was a little messed up after thinking about stuff. Sarah looked like she was about somewhere between 8 and 11 in the opening/flashback scene and Billy looked to be between 20 and 25. Things must've been A LOT different back then though. Shoot. They were already trying to force Winnie into getting married and I think it was said she was only 16 in that opening/flashback scene. And with Winnie only being 16 also, that also means the kiss between Winnie and Billy was messed up as well. Unless Billy was younger than he looked. I know when I graduated from high school, some classmates already looked 30. So maybe Billy really was about the same age as Winnie but didn't look it. But with no age being specified when it comes to Billy, I'm just going to go with what I think based on physical appearance and assume he is somewhere between 20 and 25 years old. But the opening is set in the 1600's, so that means it wasn't the U.S. yet and the constitution and U.S. laws hadn't been made yet including 18 being the legal age for stuff. It was still 100 years away. So as messed up as things are, it was acceptable back then. I guess you could say everyone was running amok back then and probably what led to the legal age being 18. But still, they should've kept the legal age in mind when making the movie, especially when this is a kids' movie/family movie. Of course, Hollywood is filled with pedos, so they probably thought it was okay making the choices they did when making the movie. Maybe this is why we don't need flashbacks or prequels/origins either. Hocus Pocus 2's opening kind of ruins the first movie now. When watching the first movie, I thought all three sisters were close in age. Like only only a year age difference between the oldest and second oldest, and then a year age difference between the second and third oldest. But no. There seems to be like 5+ year age difference between Winnie and Sarah. Plus Billy appears older than I originally thought.
There is one scene that Dave and Jamie Foxx are talking in Jamie's truck and they list that there is 5 classes/types of vampires. One of them takes more than just getting their head chopped off to kill since that type can reattach it's head and limbs. I think that one specifically needs to be killed by stabbing it in the heart. Dave Franco must've been bitten by the type and became that type. Also, it's kind of common knowledge that EVERY movie/take on vampires has its own rules and stuff. Like garlic and stakes to the heart might work in one movie, but in another it does nothing to the vampire. Just look at the Hugh Jackman Van Helsing. Only a bite from a werewolf can kill Dracula. Dracula is immune to everything else. So yeah. Day Shift just changed up the rules once more.
Every vampire movie creates its own rules and stuff, so there is that. But in Day Shift, they listed like 5 classes/types of vampires. One of those classes/types I think they said can reattach their heads or other body parts and they must be killed another way. Like the whole stake through the heart and something else. Dave Franco/Seth must've been bitten by one of those types of vampires and turned into one. Plus he might be a little harder to kill.
Funny how a bunch of examples are listed to debunk the whole thing that it all comes down to race and sex/gender and that men don't like the main character to be female as to why people hated the movie, and you decide to slap a cutoff date onto what counts/is eligible, or such and such movie can't count/isn't eligible for such and such reasons. I think you people that don't want to accept that people simply don't like the movie are doing whatever you possibly can to keep this messed up narrative you got going on in your head. Give up. Some people think the movie simply sucks and quit trying to turn it into something about race and sex/gender. There is better female characters out there than the girl in Prey and Asom just listed a bunch. I could list even more as well since Asom left out quite a bit. I created my own thread listing all my favorite female characters. Not just in movies either. But some TV shows and video games.
Heck, I could give one now. Those Who Wish Me Dead stars Angelina Jolie. That was one of my top five favorite movies of 2021. Plus I bought it on Blu-Ray ASAP. There was nothing woke about it. Sure, Angelina fought a guy in the end, but it didn't feel forced like a lot of movies nowadays (including Prey). And Angelina wasn't thinking she was better than ALL men. She even showed emotion at times as well instead of being all monotone/stoic like a lot of female characters nowadays. Plus she was believable at being tough, although she didn't have muscles like Arnold or Stallone or The Rock. Those Who Wish Me Dead did stuff right. Prey did everything wrong. And now that I mentioned Those Who Wish Me Dead, I think I'll go re-watch it.
This movie is definitely garbage. And those that hate the movie hate it because we've seen movies with better female characters. Whether if they are THE main character, the main female character, or a supporting character. I even created a thread listing pretty much all my favorite female characters throughout the years. And I didn't limit to just movies. I did video games as well. I actually could've listed more female characters. Plus I forgot some. But comments have a limit on words and characters, so I picked wisely and some had to be cut. There is plenty of better female characters out there and plenty of movies (along with TV shows and video games and maybe even books) with better female characters in them. Prey was garbage and people need to get over that some did not like the movie and sex/gender and race have nothing to do with it. We've seen better throughout the years and decades.
My top five movies of 2021 debunk all the claims and accusations that those who didn't like Prey are just sexist and racist and afraid of a female character or female-led movie. Those Who Wish Me Dead with Angelina Jolie (who plays the movie's main character/protagonist and main female character) was among my top five favorite movies of 2021. I wouldn't say it's the best movie of all time, but I'd rather watch it than Prey. Angelina Jolie was more badass and stuff in that than the girl in Prey. Prey was just terrible and complete garbage.
As a Native American, I found that part laughable, cringe, and forced. When she did that, I was like "What the f**k was that?" Plus it didn't sound right. Sounded like she hurt herself (stubbed her toe, for example) and let out this weird sound of pain than a warrior or something. That or she sounded more like some creature like a banshee than a Native American/Indian. It sounded too much of the Hollywood stereotype of Native Americans as well. They don't always do that after killing something. So like I said, laughable, cringe, and forced. Another reason I hated the movie.
Seems too predictable to me. They should've had maybe the girlfriend/love interest from the first movie or just bring in an entirely new character to take on the role/title.
Looks like there are people that still believe everything they show in an MCU trailer. By now everyone should learn to not trust MCU trailers. That's why until I see someone in costume and heavily as Black Panther in the trailers, I'm not going to believe a single shot, especially if there is no face in the shot. They could be tricking us. I wouldn't be surprised if there is multiple Black Panthers and they all take turns having the title and the Lego set is just showing that specific Black Panther. Would make sense to have a woman/female Black Panther though. Everything is all woke/PC in the MCU now and turning characters that have been male in the comics for decades into a female character, although they did establish in the first Black Panther that anyone can have the Black Panther title. But still, just seems like they are doing it for woke/PC agenda reasons and purposes than in some natural/organic way.
I don't think the movie was too bad. It's not my favorite MCU movie though (my top three are Captain America: The Winter Soldier, Guardians Of The Galaxy 1, and Ant-Man (in no particular order)), but there are other MCU movies I'd rank below it (some of them you'd be saying "wtf, dude, you serious???!!!!!!!!!). Plus I'd rather watch it again instead of something like the Venom movies or Morbius.
I think she'll be fine. If they were going to kill her, they would've killed her in Season 4. They'll probably pull a Finn from Star Wars. He ended up in a coma of some kind at the end of The Force Awakens and kind of left things as some cliffhanger with him. Then he pretty much comes out of it right at the start of The last Jedi. So I'm sure they'll probably want us to be all worried about Max for 2-3 years and then like an episode or two into Season 5 (or somewhere in the first half of the season), she comes out of the coma state or whatever you want to call it. And they'll probably do things in an anti-climactic kind of way since that's what usually happens with movies and TV shows when they deal with any kind of cliffhanger. Things "just happen" or get quickly wrapped up. There is never really some epic conclusion or worth-the-wait conclusion to a cliffhanger. I can't think of one cliffhanger that got some epic conclusion or worth-the-wait conclusion. Stuff just happens and they move on.
Just look at the Nancy cliffhanger from Season 4 Episode 7. Quickly wrapped up and stuff in Episode 8 and things were wrapped up before it cut to the Stranger Things opening intro/opening credits. I feel that cliffhanger was wrapped up in a VERY anti-climactic way and wasn't worth the month long wait. Nancy got out of her situation quickly and then things moved on like it was no big deal. So I feel it'll be the same for Max. We'll have to wait 2-3 years for an anti-climactic conclusion. She'll just wake up and then things move on like her coma or whatever you want to call it was no big deal.
Why do people think the Russians are suddenly being attacked now in the show because of what's currently going on in the real world? They've been an enemy in Stranger Things since Season 1 and before all this Russian/Ukraine crap. Season 2, Murray accused Eleven of being a Russian. Season 3, Russians were the main human villains. Season 1, I think stuff was just mentioned through dialogue. But this whole Russia = bad guys thing has ALWAYS been in the show. It didn't just randomly start in Season 4. Plus they had been working on Season 4 WAY before this stupid thing between Russia and Ukraine started. People need to get it out of their heads that the film making process can be done in a finger snap and that they start filming and editing a week or two before it releases. It takes months to almost a year or two to film stuff and edited it. But Season 3 using the Russians as the main human villains debunks all this crap that Season 4 is tying into what's going on in the real world and taking advantage of it to create more anti-Russia crap. Also, people should whip out a history book. The U.S. and Russia were at war/were enemies in the 80's. So the show is trying to keep things historically accurate. And doesn't everyone want movies and TV shows to be more realistic? Well, there ya go. The creators are throwing this realism everyone demands into the show. The most Stranger Things is doing is some "interesting enough..." type of scenario. Everyone trying to connect the show with current real world stuff is looking too deep into things. Unless we are talking PC/woke crap, which the show has skyrocketed in since Season 1. But there is no connection between Season 4 and the current crap going on between Russia and Ukraine in the real world. The show is just continuing stuff that has always been there.
Yep. It did not feel like a finale in any capacity. Not a series finale or season finale. If you were to compare it to a TV show structure, it felt like an episode somewhere in the middle of the season, or an episode earlier in the season that was still trying to build things for the second half of the season. There was no final episode or final movie feel to it. Just felt like a middle chapter somewhere or an episode somewhere between the first and last episode of a season, although leaning more towards the first half of the season.
Really? I must've seen a different cut of that scene. What I saw is him grab it by the mouth, clamp it's mouth shut with his hands, and then tell it to get lost while whipping it in a direction for it to run off to. And then we see the dinosaur run off whimpering or crying or however you want to put it instead of running back and attacking everyone.
I don't recall seeing the scene in the movie. Or some alternate version of it to be a little more fitting. The version of a possible scene in the commercial would just seem out of place in the actual movie.
I was pretty much the same. Drew was the only one I knew. I actually did know Neve, but I didn't realize it. She was in an episode of Are You Afraid Of The Dark? (The Tale Of The Dangerous Soup). But I didn't realize she was in an episode of Are You Afraid Of The Dark? until the late 2000's or early 2010's when I discovered a way to watch the show and I noticed her in an episode. Plus I did an IMDB search to make sure it was her and saw it was her.
Why not cast a bunch of unknowns? I think unknowns can be just as effective as big names. Like IT 2017. I didn't know any of those kids except Finn Wolfhard because of Stranger Things, or even any of the adult actors. I had a blast with the movie.
Also, there is Stranger Things. Didn't know anyone in the cast except Winona Ryder and David Harbour. Actually, with David Harbour, I had seen him in plenty of other stuff, but didn't know his real name. I recognized the face and voice though. There is Matthew Modine, but I didn't realize I had seen him in other stuff/realize I knew him, but when I saw his filmography, I realized I had seen him in a few other movies. But everyone else in the cast were new/unknown to me when I started watching the show. Now I see them everywhere, especially Finn Wolfhard with Millie in second place.
And then there is the MCU. The only actors I knew right away were Robert Downey Jr., Gwyneth Paltrow, Jon Favreau, Samuel L. Jackson, Natalie Portman, Paul Rudd, Scarlett Johansson, Terrence Howard, Don Cheadle, Jeff Bridges, Mickey Rourke, and maybe one or two others I'm forgetting (lots of people in the MCU). The rest were kind of unknowns or I hadn't really seen before/were in roles in movies I have seen before but didn't realize it was them. Like Chris Evans in Not Another Teen Movie and Street Kings.
I also didn't really know Christian Bale until I saw Batman Begins.
The list goes on. So I'm fine with unknowns. I can get into a movie/story with either well known actors or unknowns. It's all about story/plot, pacing, if the trailer gets me interested, and so on.
I like Owen and didn't want him to die. Well, mainly because of Chris Pratt. And probably because of Guardians Of The Galaxy. Owen was pretty much Star-Lord but in a different outfit, and Star-Lord is my favorite member of the Guardians. The rumors of him dying in Dominion were part of why I wasn't all that interested in the movie. I was dreading seeing him die and hoped they weren't really going to kill him off. Luckily, with how I watched the movie already, I was able to skip ahead to the end and see what his fate was. And once I saw he survived, that's when I became more interested in the movie and decided to watch it. I actually don't need major deaths for something to be considered good storytelling. You can still tell a good story and have high stakes without a single main character dying. Plus a lot of the main characters from all the previous movies have some close calls in Dominion. Owen has a couple close calls too.
Claire does get a pretty tense scene with one of the dinosaurs and one of my favorite scenes of the movie, mainly because of how it's shot. Part of the scene can be scene in the trailers. It's where she is crawling on the ground and a dinosaur is creeping up on her. She is crawling away from the dinosaur that reminds me of Wolverine or Freddy Krueger because of it's super long nails/claws She manages to get out of the situation though. I think she gets attacked in another scene as well (I think it's that one dinosaur that spits the black stuff), but Owen/Chris Pratt and Kayla save her. It's a little humorous what Owen does to the dinosaur. I guess he isn't just an expert when it comes to raptors. He knows how to deal with other ones as well.
SPOILERS!!!
No one major dies except for the movie's main human villain and maybe the guy that steals Blue's baby and kidnaps Maisie (a couple raptors get him with one implied to bite off his head (they don't show it since the movie is PG-13)). I don't know if the guy that steals Blue's baby and kidnaps Maisie is considered a major character. He dies around the halfway point of the movie though, or around the 1 hour mark.
But everyone major from ALL the movies survives. Yes, that's right. No legacy character dies. Ian does come close to dying or you think he'll die. He re-creates the flare scene from the first movie, but he manages to get to safety and rejoin the others.
I would've thought Chris Pratt/Owen dies since for the last year or two (pretty much since 2020 or early 2021, can't remember exactly), there was all these spoiler heavy articles being posted (mainly on Facebook) saying that the movie was going to kill off Owen/Chris Pratt. I guess they had second thoughts or the Facebook pages were trying to get people going/spread fake rumors/spoilers plus trying to create click bait articles. But he ends up surviving.
Kayla survives as well too, by the way.
Only the human villain characters die along with no-name characters/extras aka "red shirts."
If I heard correctly while watching the movie, I think Ian was just spying on them or investigating them and pretending to play along while spying/investigating/being undercover. There is a point when Ellie and Alan show up, Ian pulls Ellie aside and starts telling her all this stuff in pretty much a whisper. Someone is making coffee for Ellie, Alan, and Ian and Ian and Ellie are trying to quickly talk (and whisper, although we the audience can still hear what they are saying) while the coffee blender is making all kinds of noise so the surveillance cameras can't pick up what they are saying. Everything Ian tells Ellie while the blender is going is all the info he learned while "working" there.
Ellie, I think acts the way she does is because her kids are off to college now and she feels free and can get back to work without having to worry about her kids too much or being home with them aka be a full-time mom. She even says in the movie that her kids are in college and she feels like she has all this freedom/extra time to do whatever she wants now. So she is probably on some freedom high throughout the movie and it's causing her to act the way she is.
