Honestly, this is gonna sound crazy. But Drew Barrymore seems like she could be a secret predator. Just coz you would never suspect it...but then when you think about it, you're like, yeah. I could see that.
No disrespect, but it sounds like you care a fair bit.
About the accused more than the victims, though - and that's the whole issue with people coming forward. Which, in say the case of Harvey Weinstein, some did come forward at the time, and were either paid off for their silence under threat of losing their jobs, or were simply not helped, and there is evidence of this. But people know they aren't going to be believed from the start, so they don't come forward until they know there's no immediate threat to them.
I definitely think it's normal to be skeptical because where there's money, there's greed.
But saying you don't care about the victims because the burden of proof is on them and/or because they waited too long to say something isn't fair to them. People get scared. People not being able to pay bills, rent, eat or work in their chosen field ever again due to the threat of someone with real power, after that person has sexually assaulted them, is an understandable fear. And the more people come forward, the more valid the point becomes, not less.
And in many of these cases, the accused parties aren't denying something happened.
Yes. I just agree with you very pointedly on this. But good God, they're seriously not stopping with these so what are viewers to do?
And I'm mad at correctly being labelled an oddball! How dare you call me what I am!
Haha who doesn't like superhero movies? There's just too many of them, and not a lot of common sense or continuity between them, especially the ones that actually link up later. But seriously, if I meet one person in real life who doesn't like Logan, I think that'll be like finding a diamond.
27 Tresses (formally 27 Dresses for those of you who don't give an S about romcoms)
A seemingly perfect woman becomes obsessed with every soon-to-be bride she meets. On the day of each bride's wedding, she kidnaps the bride and locks them up in a life-sized doll house, keeping a lock of each woman's hair for her collection. But when a not bitter, not alcoholic investigative journalist stumbles upon the woman's strange collection of locks, will he uncover the deadly secret behind them...or will he be seduced into the strange world of bygone brides?
It really makes me wonder - what happened to her? Did she lose touch with everyone she knew and had ever worked with, and just lose her mind? Or is this normal for actors?
I plan on living forever, so this is a toughie.
"So shines a good deed in a weary world..." - Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory.
Short answer: yes.
I think it's because the government would have trouble regulating the income of the prostitutes without coming off as greedy and corrupt as pimps. Otherwise, if it was legal, there could be laws put in place to protect the prostitutes from bad clients and clients from STIs and other health concerns.
Same reason marijuana is illegal in most states, right?
I feel like these are all so clear cut. I wish it was that simple for me.
Some terrible movies I love. Some I can't decide if I hate or love. Some are just meh, but there are days where they are more or less pleasing to view. It's really hard for me to simplify how I rate movies. I usually just know if I like it, or don't like it, and I know the extent to which I like or dislike it. It could be a brilliantly made thing, but still I could hate it immensely and vice versa - it could be a dumpster fire with a few redeemers and those redeemers could make the movie for me.
I've had a lot of animals in my time (lol I'm not that old). Birds, rabbits, goldfish, cats and kittens, dogs and puppies, a mouse, a lizard, even a horse. I just love all those little things they do that make them seem...human. Tilts of the head. Looks. Smiles. Their pestering behaviour. Their loving, affectionate behaviour. All those little things that prove they aren't really "just" animals.
I should definitely check her out.
Pretty much any Roald Dahl adaptation.
The Fall.
Froy Gutierrez - I've only seen him on Teen Wolf, but damn that kid can act.
I'm the same - I've always liked and respected her and will likely continue to do so, but what she said is bullshit and un-feminist and, honestly, what is the message of her op-ed?
'I wasn't pretty growing up so I didn't get abused by film and tv execs - but I was plagued by self-doubt about my looks so that was tough' - is that it?
'Dress modesty if you're a feminist' - is that it?
'Women are gaining traction in Hollywood, yay' - is that it?
Here's a direct quote that literally makes zero sense to me:
'Having others celebrate your physical beauty is not the way to lead a meaningful life.' - Like, what does this have to do with anything? You celebrating your physical beauty has nothing to do with someone sexually assaulting you - they aren't celebrating you in anyway by doing that.
Women in burkas get raped. Old women get raped. Young men get raped. Kids. What they wore did not influence them being raped - so dressing modestly or not has nothing to do with anything.
Suggesting that clothing has anything to do with why this happens so frequently in Hollywood and elsewhere is just a distraction away from the real cause - that scumbags have power. Many are the gatekeepers to power and most people know they can't get anywhere without going through them. And those that don't know, learn against their will. Hold these scumbags accountable, don't look at the victims for why this happened - we all know that some of these women and some men fought against Weinstein and others and failed because of the other scumbags in power, who didn't hold them accountable.
Casablanca. I want to, but I just can't seem to get around to it.
Haley Joel Osment in The Sixth Sense was pretty dope. I know he didn't invent the internet or whatever but this is a moviechat site - someone's gotta represent for movies lol.
Dude, what do you mean you are willing? Isn't it up to both of you?
