Travelling the world when I was presented with the opportunity. Best thing I've ever done. Ever.
You're right. I just wish it was as simple as that.
Leonardo di Caprio was pretty good in What's Eating Gilbert Grape. Also Betty Giplin gave a solid performance in Elementary.
I second The Descent final scene. Chills.
Finally got around to watching Stranger Things season 2 - it's exactly what people say it is. Good but not as good as season 1.
Also watched Bright, that was pretty decent.
Haley Joel Osment in The Sixth Sense.
Sir Patrick Stewart as Professor X. Love him as that, he's iconic as that character. Also I love Chris Pine as Steve Trevor, Wesley Snipes as Blade and Charlie Cox as Daredevil.
I like some actresses who've played superheroes, like Rebecca Romijn and Gal Gadot stand out to me. But we haven't had many repeat movie female superheroes - so I don't know if they're the best. I'd even say this about the actors.
I'm Australian and I've been to Europe. The UK, Germany, France, Italy and Amsterdam. I loved my time there.
As actors or as people?
Coz as people Tom and Johnny seem like trash, but as actors they're okay.
I don't like a lot of actors - for both their acting and their personalities. The first few that come to mind:
Zooey Deschanel
Miles Teller
Anne Hathaway
Matthew McConaghuey
There's so many more. I'm a real hater.
I don't know if you want tear-jerker type movies or depressing ones so I threw in a mix:
Pay It Forward
Girl, Interrupted
Revolutionary Road
Boy in the Striped Pajamas
The Cure
My Girl
The Truman Show
Boy on the Side
The Fall
Bambi
The Colour Purple
THX 1138
Touching the Void
House of Sand and Fog
The Wicker Man (any version)
Enjoy (or not I guess...)
Yeah I agree, it's intentional camp and I like it. It does bring a lightness to the show - a lightness it needs.
I think it's main problem is that it makes no sense, even more so now.
Agreed.
Yeah it's pretty bad.
Queen Hippolyta versus Xena Warrior Princess.
Martha! Haha
Um, what?
That'd be okay with me. I like baggy pajamas. Superheroes can wear them - it'd be a nice change.
Yeah that's correct. What she's getting at is called 'enlightened sexism'. Susan J. Douglas came up with the term and definition in 2010. Here it is in simple form:
What is enlightened sexism?
[It's] a new, subtle form of sexism. It insists that full equality for women has been achieved, and therefore we don't need feminism anymore. So it's O.K. to resurrect retrograde, sexist images of women in the media, all with a wink and a laugh.
However, I will say that I don't think anyone is calling it feminist. What's feminist about it? Did Kim even call it feminist? No, journalist Celia Walden suggested it might be, to stir up Sharon, which she did.
Yeah that pretty much sums it up.
