LOL - yeah really
Unfortunately, she'd written a letter to Daddy....
No idea.
One could never do it, not in a million years.
In fact, one of my best friends started shooting deer for sport. Then proudly took pictures of the carcasses.
It was awful hard for me to relate to him after that.
Terrific actress.
As it happens, I watched "Whatever Happened to Baby Jane" yesterday.
Bette Davis was a top shelf actress.
LOL - I doubt that.
All of "The Brady Bunch" followups failed. There were several of them. Last one I remember was that awful show in the early 90s. Plus, now ALice, Carole and Mike are gone.
Well, on the other hand, they recently did a show in which the old Brady home was renovated. It was something to that affect. As I recall, all 6 original cast members (the kids I mean) participated.
Now, if this was a ratings success (no clue whether it was or wasn't) -then I suppose it is plausible the now adult Brady kids were approached to do a new series.
Innocence? Please....
It's hard to believe Mike Tyson, with his millions to spend on legal fees (and or payouts), wasn't guilty.
Looking back, if Desiree did set him up - well this doesn't make any sense. She disappeared soon thereafter. If she was only interested in a quick check, Tyson wouldn't have went to jail for 6 years. He could have pulled a Michael Jackson and bought his way out of it.
Seems like Desiree felt she was violated and sincerely wanted the law to take its course.
Probably at least 95% of all religious people are good people, they're not nuts.
Unfortunately you do have the extremists (e.g. The 9/11 crew) - these people are nuts.
Indeed it is all faith based. If someone has faith and believes, fine by me.
Only thing one doesn't care for is anyone that tries to push religion on someone else.
Neither. I did see this, around 2014. First thought was one was shocked he was "still alive". I mean this guy, he faded into complete oblivion. IF you go back to the 70s (one was a little boy at this time) - Paul Williams was all over the place.
Faded away in the 80s, figured he was a goner.
ANyway as far as the program, yeah, it was good. And good for him, first of all thankfully that he survived, and secondly, good for him for cleaning his act up.
Yeah, you could probably look back - and even though there may have been a lot of nonsense spewed on you as a child - it wasn't anything that hurt you.
Even religion - it was my Grandmother that promoted it. One took an interest, prayed every night, in Church every Sunday, altar boy, whole 9 yards. Even though I don't believe in it now, one doesn't see that it caused any harm.
ALso, lastly, I give my parents credit in that they were 100% right about food. Insisted on family meals, and it was always plenty of good, healthy food, no garbage. One was very lucky there.
Ok, I don't think I have anything else, nice topic 4L.
Hhhmm, good question. Let me roll it around for a bit.......
Well, this may be true, one has never studied it...
"If you sit too close to the TV, it will ruin your eyes"
Yeah another one along the same lines...
"Eat your carrots, they're good for your eyes"
Well, as it turned out, the only thing good for my eyes was LASIK surgery.
No
Easy....
Is Nicolas Cage an iconic actor?
If so, he is my #1 choice.
Totally overrated. In fact, some of his work makes me cringe.
Well, ok - to each his own. I didn't know it was on NETFLIX.
I am happy no one got suckered into paying for it (PPV).
However, one would think, if this "event" was so popular it crashed NETFLIX.....
Then similar PPV "fights" will be on the way.
Well, about 10% of what is written in The Bible is verifiable fact. The most recent statistics indicate 53 people mentioned in The Bible, without question, did exist.
There is no empirical basis for anything else in The Bible. Yes, this includes the concept of life after death, Jesus Christ, The Virgin Mary, The Book of Revelation, Noah's Ark, etc.
So, I guess 10% is enough.
Wow, so people actually tuned in to this farce?
Why would anyone care? Tyson is 20 years past even being capable to fight. Almost 40 years past his prime.
One really does have a serious question for anyone that bothered to watch this "fight".....
Why?
Fine - however, it isn't anything one would expect to see on what is supposed to be an elegant, serious event like the Academy's. It just proves, whoever produces the Academy Awards is at their wits end.
First that phony Will Smith/Chris ROck event. Then John Cena.
ANything to get people to notice. In fact, it worked - as I said, one didn't even know the Academy's had been broadcast until I saw the John Cena still.
"Yes, his daughter challenged him to get up and walk to her earlier in the film and he falls down and then she just walks out all huffy and puffy."
Yeah, sounds about right, thank you for clarifying.
"Such a brat but I can understand her feelings about never seeing her father,"
Agreed
"according to Charlie, he tried to contact her but her mother wouldn't allow it."
I don't think he tried all that hard. This guy, he clearly demonstrated what really mattered to him - and it wasn't Ellie - it was his boyfriend (forgot his name).
"Needless to say, she probably has daddy issues and this was her way of "getting revenge"."
Yeah, but Charlie doesn't help his own cause with Ellie. He hasn't seen her for years (as I recall). If she walks in and sees a strong, healthy, tall, fit masculine, successful man - she may have taken notice. What she sees a 500 pound oaf that can't even stand up. There is no way he is going to get thru to her. In fact, if it was me and I was him, I'd have just called her on the phone - I wouldn't want her to remember me in such a pathetic state. Anyway - he doesn't garner enough respect for her to change her ways. And indeed she is awful.
"Oddly enough, I kind of view her as "the whale". She was just innocent and unaware of what the adults were doing in her life and it caught up to her and made her an emotional wreck like it would have done to the whale in Moby Dick."
Right, emotional wreck, but evil, too. IMO totally understandable. Look at her role models, I've already mentioned Charlie, and I believe it was established her Mother was a drunk (and Ellie knew it).
I see your point, CHarlie is only the whale cuz he looks like a whale. YOu could make the contention the true whale is Ellie.
Yeah I can see that. IN this, the last week of his life, all he really cares about is establishing something, anything with Ellie.
SO it does make sense he would gather up every last ounce of strength to try to please her by walking over to her.
If I remember correctly, she makes fun of him earlier in the film because he can't get out of his chair. Or he tries to and fails, not quite sure how it went.
Anyway, it would have been meaningful that he did , in fact, stand up for his daughter as he was about to pack it in.
So, yes some meaning there - agreed with you.
Well, this is fine - but does anyone really care anymore?
One certainly doesn't like older people talking about how great it was 30 years ago, but in this case - it was. Well I won't say great, I'll just say, The Oscars were a big deal then.
ANd this goes all the way back to being a little boy. At that point, the Academy Awards were as big as the Super Bowl.
Seems no one gives a sh*&^%$t anymore.
PS - The only way I knew the Oscars, this year, had even been broadcast is because the next day, while on Quora - I see this absurd still of John Cena stark naked. One thought, Jesus, what an idiot, he's just made a fool of himself for all eternity - well, maybe its just some kind of prank. Then I find out later it was part of the Academy Awards show. How much further can you sink???
Yeah. But his life really had no meaning. Unless you consider quitting meaningful.
Plus, in reality, he was a jerk. Not referring to his sexual proclivities, more towards he really didn't care about his daughter until time was almost up.
Hopeful ending? Eehh, maybe. Showed he at least had the will to get out of his chair.
One can only say this - I was never a fan - I never got it - whatever it is she has, one missed it.
Particularly I don't care for her interviewing style - way too aggressive.
However, props and total respect to anyone that came from nothing and turned themselves into a billionaire.
As Oprah WInfrey did.
