It's years since I saw the film and perhaps I remember the book better. But there is a very dark theme to this story and I find it quite believable that some would latch onto that aspect.
Interesting, I never found the 1995 version and just assumed it was missing for some reason. Moot point now since IMDb zapped all the boards. I'd go in and correct it but I'm too pissed off at the loss of the boards to update IMDb again.
Mary was ridiculoulsy horrible. But I thought Amanda Hale also made her funny and it's actually a very enjoyable performance.
I thought that was well conveyed when they were all so pleased to see Ann and gathered round taking whilst Mary was effectively pushed in to the background and ignored.
Nope. It was a moment of longing and hesitation. I was actually thinking just get on with it and kiss the poor girl - and then he/they did and it made me smile.
I've not seen all of those but I thought King Arthur was actually quite good. Troy and especially Alexander (and Kingdom of Heaven) were over-blown productions that didn't seem to know what kind of film they were supposed to be.
I think I've only seen KS in one film - Certain Women. It's a small film and she has a smallish part (though, of course, there are no small parts) but I thought she was pretty good. More than held her own among a strong cast of 'character' actors.
Yet he stood there looking the father straight in the eye and waiting to be shot - so perhaps a sense of guilt and responsibility?
In the deleted scenes on the DVD the dance between Lizzie and The Stranger goes on for longer and becomes briefly slow-mo black and white. The director says she did not want to lose that scene but was overruled. So I'm guessing it was the intention that Frankie observed this scene and drifted off in happy distraction and the Catriona was always fated to be disappointed.
I thought it was over-hyped and , perhaps as usual, the trailer was a bit misleading. I thought it was OK and the girl was really good - but overall it was just quite good rather than great.
Agreed. I was surprised to see him there and it took me a little while to be sure it was him - but he was good in the part.
Or perhaps it meant the 2nd relationship was effectively over.
Nope. PL is really good - as he usually was - but in this film his performance is just one of many that are spot on.
