Is this movie overhyped or is it really that good ??
Everyone praising it and shit
shareJust came back from watching it. I really liked the guts and gore, and thought it was nice to finally see a Marvel film which features real violence, and doesn't treat it's audience as fragile children which has to be sheltered. But other than the brutal fight scenes, it was nothing special.
shareAny big scenes like special effects wise ?
shareNaaah... not really. It's a much more down to earth superhero flick, which for once doesn't feature big CGI monsters, and IMO this was a good thing. There are some really kickass fight scenes though, and I especially loved seeing a little girl chop peoples' heads off.
shareI like that they toned down the special effects like cgi here, it would've taken away from the film's grittiness. This looks more like a Clint Eastwood Western than a marvel The Avengers type of film.
shareOver hyped. Everyone's just happy they let him swear. It's the best Wolverine movie by a long way and the best Xmen movie since 2, but it's not a masterpiece.
shareIt's that good! I am in awe.
shareso tired of the movie reviewers saying "wowsers omg this is the Wolverine movie the fans wanted since 2001 and the Wolverine movie they deserved". Geez they're just happy Wolverine sliced up some guys with extra gore. Just gore itself doesn't make a "wowsers definitive Wolverine movie".
sharekids these days think seeing a film drenched in blood and gore somehow makes them grownups

shareMy favorite X-men films are the ff & in no particular order:
First Class
Days of Future Past
Apocalypse
Logan
It's not the greatest thing ever made, but it is BY FAR the best of the three Wolverine solo films.
shareIt's wayy overhyped. Everyone thinks it's the best X-Men film just 'cause it's violent. I enjoyed it but it lacks a lot like more emotional depth to the characters. Also, they set up some stuff with no payoff.
shareReally? I thought most critics are in agreement that it's one of the poorer X-men films?
IMO, I agree that there wasn't much emotional depth, and way too much action/violence. I could go see an Avengers movie if that's what I wanted!
The acting was AMAZING.
shareThe violence didn't bother me too much but it got too video game like at times which is bad. Also, it reverted back to the old annoying X-Men movie tropes like angry scientist, weaponising mutants, Wolverine fighting a better mutant similar to him, adamantium bullet Deus Ex Machina, etc.
It tries to present itself, and it is hyped up as a super unique and different X-Men film, but really it's mostly just the same as the last two Wolvie flicks but a little more polished.
I thought it was over-hyped and , perhaps as usual, the trailer was a bit misleading. I thought it was OK and the girl was really good - but overall it was just quite good rather than great.
shareIt's pretty amazing. It's a really good Western that has Wolverine doing loads of cool shit, it's funny, has a great story, the chemistry between the three leads is kind of magical too.
People should learn to avoid hype, build anything up too much in your head it will never live up to expectations.
But just to hype it some more, it's easily the best comic book film that's ever been made.
I agree. Sad to see the usual hipster nerds starting to trash it because it seems to be growing in popularity. Really sick of this shit.
shareI actually found it good but it's not as good as everyone is hyping it up to be. It could be improved in many different ways, for example: avoiding typical, rehashed wolverine movie cliches.
7/10 And that's with me already having no expectations for the movie so I wasn't led by the hype at all.
Just 'cause someone doesn't agree with your opinion that it reaches Citizen Kane levels of greatness, doesn't mean they're being hipster nerds and hating for the sake of. Grow up.
You're entitled to your opinion, but I feel that anytime a movie tends to be really popular, the hipsters start trying to find reasons to hate it. The schtick is getting old.
share"You're entitled to your opinion"
Wow, it must have been painful for you to type those words out. Are you okay?
"anytime a movie tends to be really popular, the hipsters start trying to find reasons to hate it"
You mean like your posts about Wonder Woman or John Wick?
Are you coming out of the hipster closet? I hope you picked out a nice scarf while you were in there.
It's an incredible movie, one of the best comic book films I've ever seen.
