I suppose you also find it a great thing when unicorn prance around farting rainbows in a historical drama set in the American west.... the reality is if you want to do a historical drama then you need to be true to the basics of the time and place the drama is set in. So the first question is whether you would actually have seen a great number of black aristocrats in the the UK at this time? And the answer is no you wouldn't. Just like you wouldn't see romans driving SUV if you were watching a historical drama set in ancient Rome. If people want to make diversity movies then set them in a time and place where they actually would make sense... which is generally only in places like California and no further back than maybe 1970's. Otherwise diversity has never really existed and the economic ceiling that keeps blacks on the lower rungs of society have existed throughout time.
I know the theory that if you show blacks as successful members of society that it will push blacks to try and live up to that fantasy, that was the theory they used when they created the Cosby Show... but guess what, it doesn't work. So stop trying to push fairytales as if they are good, it doesn't make anyone happy beyond woke idiots that don't want to face the reality of what history was really like.
Props to the creators of this show for not being concerned with offending the fragile sensibilities of white supremacist, lowlife cowards & just did their own thing in the way of artistic license with colorblind casting.

I notice certain people only complain when black people are in a movie or TV show. There was plenty of complaining about black actors in the fictions Lost in Space and Star Wars, too.
Colour blind casting as shown in Bridgerton demeans history, slavery was still going on in the British Empire until 1833, it having been made illegal to purchase slaves from Africa in 1807.
I hope people years from now will value context in historical drama with a little more tact and knowledge than filmmakers of today and the 1950's.
Black Tudors would be an excellent history book for you to read since you're such a connoisseur of history.

OP you are correct. I wish POC all the good fortune in the world in achieving their cinematic dreams; however, the population of black people in this historic-period drama is ridiculous. I just wish the Hollywood idiots that love this racial quota casting would use the demographics of the present. At the moment 12% in the US are black, so clearly this show has too damn many... and where in the fuck are the Hispanics and Asians? If you want to do quota based casting there are more than just blacks and whites in the world, so if being fair is the goal do it right.. otherwise don't do it at all and just cast based on the time period of the movie your making.
