shareI'm on the fence... I don't think Wonka needs a backstory - the mystery is part of the fun. However, this looks kinda fun and pretty to look at. If my kid wants to go see it we'll check it out.

For kids movies, many are too old (Round about 10 - 13, this starts to occur) and many are too young - mid 30s is a point where some folks realize that they are now old enough to appreciate kids movies again.
I will take my 9 year old daughter to see this.
By the look of it Hugh Grant looks set to steal the show.
50/50. It does look like it'll be an okay film, but Timothée Chalamet is sorely lacking the Wonka energy that the original directors spotted instantly in Gene Wilder. Depp's Wonka is appalling imo, so Chalamet's already beat him in that regard, but he seems entirely lacklustre for such a colourful character that's supposed to carry the whole film.
