Most overrated movie of all time

Don't get me wrong there were some decent performances by the actors. I liked the cast, I really did.

I thought Louis CK sucked though... The story was bland and I was fighting to stay awake watching this thing. It was the most boring piece of work I've seen in a long time. The last 30 mins or so I got into it more but the previous what felt like 3 hours was slow, and uninteresting. I don't want to give away many spoilers but the story isn't anything special. There were a few good scenes here and there but as a complete body of work I really didn't enjoy it or think that it should have been nominated for so many Oscars.

Completely agree. One of the most silly pieces of stupidity. Is completely unbelievable.

TDKR is crap but most people think so. So, it's hardly overrated because outside of the nolanite ballot stuffers, no one actually rates it highly.

reply

This is without a doubt a highly overrated movie, but most overrated of "all time" is debatable.

I agree, not a good movie. I also agree there were some good performances from the cast, they made the most of the script they had to work with. The story was long, uninteresting and pointless. They could have cut 30 minutes out of it and it would have made it better.

I agree. I was very disappointed with this movies. Great acting yes, but the movie itself is a travesty. So much is borrowed from Scorsese, but it just can´t hold a candle against movies like Goodfellas. What a waste of talent.

reply

Agreed. Definitely one candidate to make it for future all-time-overrated movies list with its many academy award nominations. Just fails to get it a little more overrated by actually winning some. Just think the only really great thing was Amy Adams performance and Bradley Cooper did good, too, going far above his usual stuff. The story was nothing you had not seen before in caper and betrayal movies since the 60ies. I also thought that Christian Bale and Jennifer Lawrence were not that impressive, either.

The Shawshank Redemption already took and cemented that title a long time ago.

You speak the truth, jetze, although ":The Artist" may be even more overrated.

Sadly, I have to agree. It's not the most overrated film by a long shot, but I was definitely annoyed with the director. There was so much to look forward to, but the script is bloated and the direction is flashy yet adds nothing. I made it an hour in and had to tap out. It's a mildly amusing film at times, but it's lite comedy not a Goodfellas-like drama it was marketed as. It seems like I could say this about most Oscar-nominated films, but making a film longer and talkier does not make it better especially if you're making a comedy and don't have much of a script.
