Most overrated movie of all time

Don't get me wrong there were some decent performances by the actors. I liked the cast, I really did.

I thought Louis CK sucked though... The story was bland and I was fighting to stay awake watching this thing. It was the most boring piece of work I've seen in a long time. The last 30 mins or so I got into it more but the previous what felt like 3 hours was slow, and uninteresting. I don't want to give away many spoilers but the story isn't anything special. There were a few good scenes here and there but as a complete body of work I really didn't enjoy it or think that it should have been nominated for so many Oscars.

Pathetic and boring movie!!!! Couldn't even watch it to the end!!! Who are these critics that promote this rubbish......Was it the director's???

i agree story wasn't interesting and the most conning thing they did was they sold forged art i was expecting something big to happen in the ending(the best
we've ever done) but the movie just boringly finished!

I don't understand the haters here. There clearly was a plot, but the main point of the film was thematic. Is that such a difficult concept?

And what about the film exactly is "boring"? Not enough car chases?

The haters here are the most infantile and stupid collection of people you can probably find on IMDb.

Just saw this tonight and I came here to find out what others thought of it. My first comment to my husband was, "This is not best picture material." I agree with many of you. I think what impressed me most about Christian Bale's performance was that it was so different from what I've seen him do before, although I haven't seen all of his films. But I don't think any of these performances were Oscar worthy. I, too, felt that the mayor was the most sympathetic and likeable character. I didn't hate the film, but it certainly did not live up to the hype. And having seen many con films and television programs, I was not at all surprised by the ending. It was predictable. I'd much rather watch episodes of Leverage. At least the humor there is obvious.

Sounds like you need a do-goody protagonist with a sacred heart to enjoy a film.

And I seriously doubt you saw that ending coming

agreed.

Go back to watching Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and leave the more sophisticated con artist/gangster films to those who appreciate them. GREAT movie - 8/10.

I was bored most of this film, it started off disjointed and confusing. Went on too long and the characters (apart from the leading ladies) were very unlikeable. Overrated.

Guess I shouldn't bother trying to watch it again. I made two attempts and I can watch almost anything. I can always get past the first 30 mins in a movie but this was the first time I could not. Maybe my expectations were too high? The main problem is that there is no hook. Generally something takes place early on in a movie to get your attention but this movie was going nowhere fast. I don't feel like waiting for something to happen. And for the record I loved Three Kings and Silver Linings Playbook so it has nothing to do with disliking the directors style and I love all the actors in the film. Meh.

Not of all time. But we recently watched it and were beyond disappointed. That is pretty much how we feel about most films these days. I've probably seen almost as many movies as Martin Scorsese, and I'm very sad that very few new movies are worth my time. Though that discussion really is for another topic and forum.
