It’s an exact reference to the opening of 2001: A Space Odyssey. The dawn of man revelation. Where apes realize they can ward off predators by arming themselves with bones as weapons. Survival of the fittest. It’s creatively used in Barbie where girls do the same. Because of Barbie. A parody.

There are a lot of references to movies in Barbie that viewers are completely missing.
