I only consider there to be THREE Indiana Jones movies, and rank them accordingly: 1) Raiders, 2) LAST Crusade, 3) Temple of Doom.
And before you say "Too bad, Crystal Skull and Dial of Destiny exists whether you like it or not", Hollywood studios simply ignore films in a franchise THEY don't like, like the James Bond film "Never Say Never Again" or the Pink Panther film "Inspector Closeau" If they can exclude those films from their "list" of films in a franchise, I can too!
I don't think one can legitimately exclude Crystal Skull. The story was conceived by the original creator and it was directed by the same person as the first three.
So disappointing as it may be, it's still true movie canon. This new effort however has no real legitimacy.

So was Halloween II (1981), but then Halloween 2018 came along and INSISTED the second film "never happened".
So I'm putting Crystal Skull in the "non-canon" category. In my universe, Indy never had an illegitimate son named "Mutt" or survived a nuclear blast while hiding in a refrigerator.

>> Eh, Halloween 2018 has no canon connection in terms of the writer / director to the original? <<
It had an entirely different writer-director team, but it marketed itself around having the "approval" of the original creator (John Carpenter), who put his name on the movie as "Executive Producer", the composer from the original film (again, Carpenter) and "stars" of the original (Nick Castle as Michael Myers and Jamie Lee Curtis as Laurie Strode)
Dial of Destiny pretty much did the same gimmick by saying it had the Spielberg/Lucas seal of approval, and brought back the "stars" of the original and John Williams as composer. Terminator 5 and 6 pulled a similar stunt (and claimed 3 and 4 "never happened"). Seems to common in Hollywood these days.
>> And even if it had, as far as I'm aware Lucas / Spielberg never came along and made a follow up to Last Crusade which wiped out Crystal Skull. <<
Eh, Dial of Destiny didn't try to claim Crystal Skull "never happened", but it DID effectively render the events of the that movie null and void by killing off this "Mutt" character off screen, and ending Indy's "marriage" from the end of the previous film.
Fortunately I don't regard Indy 4 OR 5 as canon, so whatever "events" happened in EITHER movie are non-existent in my Indy universe. :-D
Having the approval of the original creator doesn't really count for much. That's just the original creator saying, "sure, go ahead, do whatever you like". Unless he embraces it as canon (and not just tacitly by giving permission), there is no real reason for anyone else to, either - unless they want to.

Dammit, you can't just chose to ignore films in a franchise. There are 5 movies to rank. Please don't exclude any
shareMy opinion:
Raiders 10/10
Last Crusade 10/10
Temple of Doom 9/10
Dial of Destiny 8/10
Skull 6/10
People who talk like Indy spends all of Dial of Destiny cowering in a corner well Phoebe Waller-Bridge does everything are the ones who really have political agenda.
I will agree with your last statement, and I abhor wokery in all of its forms.
shareYep, he did way more than a man his age can normally do. He even said in his interviews he's aging Indy clear and cut but the fan-atics still have him as young Indy in old man's body. They pulled off his skills just fine since he still did stuff (jump from different carts to jumping off planes, to fighting Nazi's) that old Han Solo would have wanted.
shareHave you seen the new M:I movie? How does the action in the Indy movie compare?
shareRaiders - 10/10
Last Crusade 9.5/10
ToD - 5/10
Skulls - 3/10
Haven't seen Dial of Destiny.
C'mon, only a 5/10 for Temple? While it may not be as good as Raiders or TLC, it's still a solid entry in the franchise and deserving of at least a 7.5.
shareI didn't enjoy watching it. I was being fair in my own way. For a movie to be worth 7.5 stars it would have to be better than merely being solid. Just my opinion.
shareIf you haven't seen this movie yet, why you on this board?
sharedid you see it yet?
share1. Raiders of the Ark
2. Last Crusade
3. Temple of Doom
4. Crystal Skull
5. Dial of Destiny
Nothing beats the classic three films. Ford is invested in Indy, Bad ass Villains, Classic score, crazy action set pieces and Sean Connery as Indy's dad. What's not to like.
"What's not to like."
If we're talking about The Last Crusade, the young Indiana Jones introduction at the beginning, what they did to Denholm Elliot's character, too much humour and desperate urge to entertain. Raiders of the Lost Ark is much more balanced in this regard and has better characters. Overall much more stylished.
Raiders 10/10
Last Crusade 7/10
Temple of Doom 5/10
Crystal Skull 3/10
Haven't seen Dial.
Dial is definitely better than Skull.
shareSean Connery as “Indy’s Dad” was nothing more than a comic relief moron. The entire movie was trying way too hard to be funny and it wasn’t.
shareAnyone who think Last Crusade is better than Temple of Doom is on crack. And what “racial stereotypes”? The virtue signaling needs to stop.
share1. Raiders
2. Temple
3. Crystal Skull
4. Last Crusade
Haven’t seen Dial and I probably won’t for a while but based on what I’ve heard it’s probably going to be in last place.
Sorry to tell .... but there are only 3 Indiana Jones movies. Thats canon and nothing else. The rest is greedy studios doing dumb and woke trash with a familiar label.
And the ranking is clearly:
Raiders Of The Lost Ark (a dark Indy done the right way)
Indiana Jones And The Temple Of Doom (one of the most amazing roller coaster rides ever!)
Last Crusade (Amazing movie, but the other 2 were better)
Theres 5 films in this franchise, dammit. Now rank accordingly and no ignoring any Indy movies like 4 and 5
