Isn't it odd that a no-frills action sequel was nominated for best picture?

Awesome, but still strange.

It's a dope ass movie, and tbh it should have won. What was it up against, anyway?

reply

sort of. the saga of how this movie got made is why, but not all of that translated to the screen. a lot of the awards are behind the scenes stuff. i think half the awards given out are because artists pulled off saying "stuff it" to producers and studios.

reply

It as about a male villain who oppressed women, that's Oscar bait.

reply

dammit thats probably why, isn't it.

reply

I thought you were constantly complaining that all films these days had woman vs white male villain?

reply

it's definitely atypical, but completely deserved.

i know what you mean by 'no frills' - it's lean on plot, long on operatic, insane action. personally i'd shy away from using a term like that for a movie filled with such great visuals & intense action.

it's definitely one of my favourite films.

i don't take those awards all that seriously, but i definitely think it's very cool that it got that nomination.

reply

Uncommon but awesome.

It's not a regular thing but this movie deserved it! I can't wait for the next one 😊

reply

Odd, but I would say that's a good thing.

I love pretentious, artsy shit as much as the next guy, but I think there's a space in best picture for movies that aren't "typical oscar fare".

reply

yes. probably caused the makers of Terminator Dark Fate to get their hopes up
