Anya Taylor Joy's casting is getting unfair commentary...

....and by a lot of people who haven't even seen the gd movie.

She does a great job in the movie. It is not a "woke" movie at all, and ATJ is not some masculine she-hero who is able to throw men around like ragdolls. I think George Miller is much more realistic than that. ATJ has great acting chops...and when she shaves her head, she actually passes quite a bit for a young Charlize Theron.

Charlize is nearly 50, and could not (and SHOULD not) carry off playin a younger version of herself. ATJ was great, and it worked. And....as mentioned, she's not some invincible she-man. As young Furiosa, she is vulnerable, and much of what she accomplishes, she does so as a team, aligned with others....(including an Alpha-type male who is plenty heroic in his own rite, and becomes her mentor).

People need to stop whining about Anya Taylor Joy. Especially people who haven't even seen the movie! Furiosa is a great movie (probably 3rd best in the franchise). If you like and trust George Miller....you will like this film.

I agree. Anya is great in this, and Furiosa is an extremely competent action film. Its no Fury Road, but it soars high above the crap that Hollywood has been producing for the last 10 years or so.

I just watched this and I have to agree. They did a good job of not making her an invincible "girrrrl power" type.

When she did get the best of larger men, it was because she had help or a weapon or a vehicle to even the odds. Or she used her wits like when she was young and [spoiler] created the fake wig thing.

I don't recall any scene where she straight up fought and beat a man.

These are the things that made Leia and Ripley and Sarah Connor such great characters. They had their vulnerabilities, but overcame through the sacrifices of others, persistence, and wit.

I think anya is a great actress but couldn't see her as Furiosa. She looks too fragile and beauty to be a road warrior, I believed Charlize Theron fitted much more in the role ( maybe because She had a harder Life and that transpires).

She did well in the movie, but IDK she does have very delicate features.

Yeah, about that...

It is indeed a woke movie, insofar as it's a prequel to Fury Road, which George Miller himself was proud to go around in interviews announcing as a "feminist film." I don't particularly care how much they toned it down on this one, as long as it's in any way related to that so-called Mad Max film made with input from Eve "Vagina Monologues" Ensler.

Good point, is cut from the same cloth as the other Faux Max garbage film.

On the other hand, I have to agree its a bit unfair to blame Anya Taylor Joy for this one. Most of the people bashing her casting and whining about Chalize Theron not returning were fine and dandy with getting rid of Mel Gibson and replacing him with non-look-alike Tom Hardy, so their position is just a tad bit hypocritical.

Anya Taylor Joy could have pulled off a cool supporting role in a REAL Mad Max movie with Mel Gibson. Missed opportunity! It's like how they cast Idris Elba in The Dark Tower movie, and he would have made an AWESOME supporting role as one of antagonist characters, but nope, they had to totally miscast him in the LEAD role as "Roland Deschain". Epic fail!

The Anya Taylor Joy SIMP Cult are as bad as the Zendaya SIMP Cult.

She is mostly nimble.
