I loved this one and enjoyed it so much, particularly the scenes focusing on grieving her husband. Very poignant. I don't have an issue with the new actor's race, but he is just so slender / tiny / sickly looking. He does not sell "superhero" to me. More of a middle-school teacher. It just went #1 on the US Spotify streaming charts. It was made in the UK. Sounds like he did, yes. Why does it matter what nationality the actors had? Oh right, it doesn't. Mexicans should fix their cartel problems instead of wasting time criticizing this harmless movie. Stan Lee regarded the Fantastic Four as his greatest creation and often expressed his wish that he had lived to see a film adaptation that truly captured or even surpassed the brilliance of the original comics. Now that he's gone I still hope that marvel at least finally did it with this one, fingers crossed. His reddit post history is also quite problematic, if you didn't hear about it yet. > Need to stop with the woke/DEI nonsense Come on now, you know that is not happening.... Update: I read the book this movie is based on, and it gives some more context the movie just doesn't have time to establish. In the book, the male lead is extremely capable. To the point that it annoys the female lead a lot. About navigating in the dark and with the map: this is actually explained in the book quite well, during the hiking adventures their guide tries to teach them a lot about navigation skills, but no one pays attention to him because they just rely on him always being around to guide them so they ignore him when he tries to teach them. Everyone does this except Helen, who is a teacher for work so she takes studying more seriously and takes detailed notes while the guide explains navigation knowledge, that is why she is good at it. > The dumb blond character gives a soliloquy where she suddenly reveals herself a savvy stock trader with expert-level knowledge of the markets. You are right about this one, and this was clearly included in the movie because of the "message", just as portraying Mason as weak and useless in a crisis situation. These are not part of the book at all. View all replies >
