Just had to switch it off.....

I couldn't wait to watch this film when I had the chance, decent rating, friends said it was good but when I watched it with parents; had to give up after an hour.

I just didn't see what was so funny. I like my comedies, actually love them but I just couldn't see what was so good about this.

Btw this is an opinion, if you start stating what kind of person I am then you are better of not posting anything.

Can someone explain to me how Anchorman is good?

How it got such a high rating is beyond me.....

Im right there with you. I dont think will farrell is funny at all and I dont understand why anybody else does. If I watch a movie of his I feel like I have to force myself to laugh. Comedy just isnt in his blood.

the characters were bullies especially the one with the cowboy hat

Elf and this movie is probably the only consistently funny Will Ferrell films. I will also admit I will take this over the first Hangover movie which is still over hyped and mostly unfunny garbage.

reply

over hyped overrated unfunny

the 'giraffe scene' was genuinely stomach turning

hitting the car door on a baby was disgusting too

Totally agree...i've just reviewed it with a score of 2 because it's really THAT poor.
Poor acting, poor directing and most importantly for this kind of movies: poor jokes ! Maybe if i was retarded i'd actually enjoy it, not sure...

I watched this in the theater when it was released and i didn't like it. After all these years and after hearing people gush over it i decided to watch it again. And i tried watching it with an open mind, i was born in the 70's so i can get the tacky humor. But W.F. just doesn't do it for me in this. I loved him on SNL, and Loooved him on Eastbound and down. But he just tried to hard in this movie... actually the trailers i've seen for Anchorman 2 look way funnier than the whole first film.
I'm not going to judge people that like this movie..to each his own.

Anchorman and Talladega Nights are essentially the same movie.

*On top of the world
*Egotism and a mistake causes a fall from grace
*Lack of open mindedness allows a newcomer to become the antagonist
*Long fight back brings respect from his nemesis as well as his respect for them.

Both characters are kind of entertaining for short stretches, but making an entire movie with them is a bit much for my taste. They are actually a lot like SNL skits that go on for an hour and a half.

"Every second joke was about how stupid and not as good as men women are"....But that is actually how people treated females in the 1970s, from what I've been told by people who were there. Anchorman was making fun of the 1970s attitudes. Its refreshing to see politically incorrect humor. It was definitely funny for me.

This movie just goes to show there is a real lowering of the bar of what is considered comedy. The constant decline of SNL has sadly helped spawn movies like this.

It gets a high rating because of all the advertising hype which does a good job of convincing people this is good and don't dare say it isn't, because that would show you aren't agreeing with the popular culture that has been rammed downed people's throats by multi-million dollar advertising campaigns.

I totally agree. You sat one hour through it for me 5 minutes were wasted.

I also turned it off. I was about to start such a thread, so thanks for saving me the trouble.

We stopped it during the scene where the men went into the office to complain about the new female colleague--each one getting more and more obnoxious. It was an assault on the senses.

I would rather watch 100 chick flicks before ever venturing near a "dude flick" like this again.

Apparently there are people who work behind the scenes in casting and production who think that Paul Rudd is funny. How long must this go on before someone realizes the emperor has no clothes?

Obviously I'm not alone because there are four threads on the first page alone stating how awful this is.
