I couldn't wait to watch this film when I had the chance, decent rating, friends said it was good but when I watched it with parents; had to give up after an hour.
I just didn't see what was so funny. I like my comedies, actually love them but I just couldn't see what was so good about this.
Btw this is an opinion, if you start stating what kind of person I am then you are better of not posting anything.
Well, if your opinion is that this isn't a funny movie, then how can we explain to you just how good it is? You're not going to change your opinion, nor will you be able to see our justification for finding it hilarious.
I have to agree, a terrible unfunny movie. I'm actually 38 minutes into it and want to turn it off. I've just logged on to find if there are any redeeming features about to happen to make this movie worth watching. Oh Steve Carell was mildly amusing.
Today's movie viewer does not understand satire. All comedy has to be completely idiotic, hit you over the head, shove it down your throat. Comedy used to be about showing you the humor, inviting you in and not insulting your intelligence. Now it's all about bathroom and shock humor, penis and sex jokes, and way too may people are laughing. I guess that shows the intelligence of the average viewer.
That's quite a blanket statement! The only reason people think everything used to be better is because the mediocre stuff gets forgotten. If you can't find anything being made today that makes you laugh, the problem is with you. Keep on thinking you're superior to everybody else though.

id say penis and sex jokes are really only in shows directed towards like 13 year olds. Like family guy.
timd961 your targetless hate just makes you look like one of those douchebags that think they are too smart for the shows created for dumb people. Its like you want to be praised for realizing that comedy directed towards idiots, treats them like idiots.
You're right timd961, oh how I long for the days of sophisticated humor like Caddyshack and Porky's and great screenwriters like Mel Brooks and Monty Python. Now those gents could turn a phrase.
Listen, if you don't like it, that's fine, but don't rewrite history and tell us that humor "nowadays" is totally devolved from what it used to be. Animal House and Caddyshack are two of the more cherished comedies of all time and they're as raunchy and / or as stupid as anything today. Mel Brooks is beloved and a lot of times his jokes come down to, "Hey look a Jewish Joke" or "Hey look a black sheriff" or my personal favorite "Hey look they're smoking weed." Don't get me wrong, I love comedies from every era that I've seen and at no point have I ever seen the quality of humor drop off a table.
There were, are, and also will be stupid, silly, random comedies that audiences love. Along side them will be more clever and subtle films. You just have to look to find them.
What a great response. I also thought the earlier point about only the best movies from the past are even remembered. There were certainly more made than most people know about.
If you you think Will Ferrell is the funniest person alive then I guess this movie is really funny otherwise no, I think some small bits are funny but overall not that hilarious.
Toughed it out for about half an hour. I kind of wish I had seen it in a theater just so I could find out at which parts people laughed. Not one moment of what I watched was even close to funny.
