Amazing Movie Besides Tom Hanks...

Can't take that libturd bozo seriously, especially playing a soldier in war...

reply

He did portray his role perfectly, though.
If you think conflicting political and moral views are reason to flat out lie about that, you do you.
But perhaps do not speak about not taking people serious, then...

reply

its more than his politics, its his face. the only role he pulled off was playing that retard in Forrest Gump

reply

People won’t take YOU seriously if you feel like you have to bring politics into everything. Hank’s performance here was wonderful.

reply

his Jamaican son is badass but Tom sucks

Chet is a real n***a

reply

Oh, shut up you TART!

reply

no

You are, of course, allowed to have an opinion about anything and everything, be it movies, politics or Tom Hanks's facial features. But, as you know, opinions are like a$$holes. Everyone has one, and at least once in their life, everyone is one.

reply

I am an asshole more than once in my life 👹

reply

well , sucks to be you , if you're so blinded by political extremism that you cant enjoy the movie.
oh well , go find another one .
I guess it'll have to be a Charlton Heston one , or Eastwood maybe.

reply

I enjoy the movie, the D-Day scene is one of the most violent badass war scenes ever re-created on film. its just Tom Hank takes me out of it everytime he is on screen, reminding me it is all fake.

reply

TOM HANKS TAKES YOU OUT OF IT...BUT BARRY PEPPER,VIN DIESEL,MATT DAMON AND TOM FUCKING SIZEMORE ARE UNNOTICEABLE AND CONVINCING?🫤

reply

they actually look like soldiers tho, Tom Hanks looks like a mailman...

reply

MAILMEN SERVED IN WWII...SO DID PEOPLE FROM ALL WALKS OF LIFE...MY GRANDFATHER SERVED...SPENT TWO YEARS AS A POW...HE WAS AN ELECTRICIAN.

reply

my grandad served too!! fighting Russians on the Eastern Front!!!

reply

Lots of mailmen served in WWII. If you remember in the film he was a school teacher.

reply

yeah but Tom just doesn't look like one of those badass mailman. He looks like a dorky one

reply

yeeeeaaaaahhhh buuuuddddyyyyy!!!!!!

reply

Dorky? You want a dorky character in SPR? How about the WRONG Ryan, the one who sobbed to go back home when they thought he was their man but wasn't?

And to think that dorky actor went on to be the main lead in Firefly! I don't like that either, I must be one of the few who doesn't.

reply

Captain Reynolds the war hero?

reply

YEAH.

To relive the humiliation (and to annoy DMT) see this:

He looks like such a wuss compared to even Upham!

reply

🤣Painful
not quite the 'big damn hero' there

I recall thinking Paul Giamatti was a terrible casting choice because no one could make him look like an infantrymen. Ted Danson too. But, I accepted the concept that with 8 million men in the Army, there would be those in the combat arms that didn’t fit the profile. Did you have any issue buying Hanks as an infantryman in Forrest Gump?

reply

no because he was a Retarded Infantryman, it complimented his retardedly shaped head and worked for me. I bought into that character and loved the movie, cried multiple times during it in fact. I am a Tom Hanks fan. Movies like Forrest Gump and Cast Away are great films because he plays a believable part. This movie he plays a badass, and he just doesn't look the part, it suspends the reality and takes away from the film. Retarded badass, YES! Non-Retarded badass? not-so-that-much....

reply

Sorry but I 100% disagree. I have always felt "Saving Private Ryan" represented some of the best work Tom Hanks ever did. The character was an English teacher in real life. He's a peaceful guy, he's trying to get back to his wife. He's only a bad ass because of the reality of his situation. In reality, he is a very mellow, civilized person. I thought Hanks played him just right. Forrest Gump is a cartoon character. I never cared for the movie or Tom Hanks' performance. I am with you on "Cast Away". In fact, I'd put "Cast Away" up with SPR as the best work Hanks has done.

quality film!

Judging acting talents and appropriate casting through an extremist political lens will always result in biased and skewed evaluations.

But that's your world.

I can understand in part what you mean by Hanks looking out of place, but then, that was the whole point given that his character was an English teacher. That's why the soldiers had such a hard time guessing his occupation back home. It was hard to imagine someone like THAT being where he was and doing what he was doing.

reply

Setting politics aside (I know it is hard), this is Tom Hanks best role of all-time. He was excellent as captain Miller. The only other movie I can think of that he was remotely this good in was "Castaway"

I don't even want to hear anyone champion "Forrest Gump" or "Bachelor Party." Saving Private Ryan was his best movie. End of story.

This entire thread is silly and I feel embarrassed for all of you.
