Do people actually like this movie?
It amazes me that this piece of garbage isn't in the IMDB bottom 100.
shareIt amazes me that this piece of garbage isn't in the IMDB bottom 100.
shareI did. Still do.
shareNot as good as Raiders, but I like it, always have...always will.
shareVery interesting
shareHere we go again...
"I don't like this movie...and i dont understand why other people do...I can't be wrong, surely they are all wrong, or there is something wrong with those who like it"
That, in a nutshell, sums up this and all similar posts that seem to be rife on these boards.
Yup. Sometimes I wonder why I still bother coming here. It's always the same.
No one really exchanges opinions or ideas, discusses scenes, their meaning and if they do they just look for a fight, baiting with certain topics or "unpopular opinions", ready to jump at the first guy disagreeing.
It's full blown partisan-trolls everywhere.
Sometimes I think the internet was a massive mistake.
Mankind is turning to shit one click at a time.
Yes sure, jaded and cynical... but am I really so far off?
Think of social media, how people interact with each other. 99% of the time it is hostile.
If you dig a little you can find some pretty great conversations about movies rolling around on here.
shareYes but that's the issue, one has to dig for it while it *should* be the norm.
Meanwhile people mostly just trash-talk here.
It's like the whole world is men tally ill by now and takes it out online...
It is an issue. Discourse, as with any action, should be its best at all times. Sometimes that might mean being harsh, of course, but not nasty - if the distinction might be drawn.
The whole world has always been mentally ill, I think, it's just now there's a place to observe it a little more clearly and on a larger scale.
Maybe we should be the better discoursers? Make it our goal to propagate only the best.
Difficult.
Criticize the wrong movie or aspect about it and people jump you like starving cannibals.
I agree in principle of course.
We could still remain principled ourselves in abstaining from brute argument or at least committing to never "arguing in bad faith"?
Maybe this is a General Discussion conversation about how to propagate premium message board talk.
The difficulty actually arises more when you just want to say something frivolous, "This movie rocked," and whatnot. It's hard to maintain lofty goals of intellectual discourse when you're just trying to say that the lobby gunfight in The Matrix was boss.
Most of them from the years before MovieChat.
shareWhile that might be true, I've had many since joining up with MovieChat. I find it really depends on who you talk to.
I also find that I can get something interesting going by starting my own topics, particularly on the General Discussion forums, which a lot of users watch. Phrase things right, and some good discussions come up.
Every thread isn't a hit, and it is harder on MovieChat than IMDb (fewer users makes for fewer conversations), but it can be done.
What amazes me is your ludicrous obsession with the fact that most people who watch this film, like it. Not only do they like it, but they like it about as much as Raiders. Some like it more than Raiders. And for some reason, you just can't accept that. Your obsession with this is not normal. You're not happy until everybody thinks the same way you do, or you wouldn't be posting these threads. How many years has it been, now?
shareI'm trying to understand why they like this trash movie. What about the Mickey Mouse joke made this movie such a cinematic masterpiece? Also you are just as obsessed with it as I am seeing how you bother responding to me. Seek help kid.
shareThere was no Mickey Mouse joke. Will you stop lying about that any time soon?
shareThere absolutely was a Mickey Mouse joke stop lying
shareStop making things up. The name Mickey Mouse was mentioned, but not as a joke.
shareIt was absolutely a joke and a not funny one while I’m at it, but it’s so much more than that, it is a representation of the tone set for the movie where the dark, mature themes of the first two are replaced with pre school level humor, he literally put that joke in there for children, even though the first two movies were not for children. This is the Robocop 3 of the Indiana Jones franchise
shareIt was absolutely a joke
he literally put that joke in there for children
Yet I knew who Jesse Owens was in 3rd grade, it's obvious Spielberg didn't have a lot of respect for his audience's intelligence or he was trying to appeal to audiences below 3rd grade, so which is it?
shareYet I knew who Jesse Owens was in 3rd grade
it's obvious Spielberg didn't have a lot of respect for his audience's intelligence
There you go then, Spielberg had no respect for the audiences intelligence.
HAHAHAHAHAHAHA, first of all that's a strawman, I never once said Indiana Jones should be like Shakespeare, secondly you have conceded that Spielberg dumbed down this movie to appeal to stupid people who don't even know who one of the greatest historical figures of all time is. That literally proves my point.
Again you are throwing around terms at random, which makes it obvious you haven't got a clue as to what they mean.
shareI understand it just fine and have used them appropriately. You are getting utterly desperate here and it's showing.
shareA strawman is when you misrepresent someone's argument to make it easier to defeat. For example, when you claim people accuse you of being a troll because you have objections to this movie, when no one has claimed you to be a troll on that basis.
shareYou said that I expected Indiana Jones to be like Shakespeare and you said that a Jesse Owens joke was on the same level as Shakespeare which is a strawman you moron.
shareAlso I'm going to go ahead and debunk your premise right here: Blazing Saddles (which is a far better movie that Last Crusade) had a Jesse Owens joke and audiences understood it just fine, and this joke was actually funny unlike the Mickey Mouse joke.
No charge for your education, pee wee. That's my gift to you.
Fun movie with fun characters, a decent story, cool locations and a great musical score. Simple really.
OP, curious as to what you would consider a few movies to be worthy of being in the top 10 on imdb's or anyones list.
You realize I’m talking about last crusade correct? The Indiana Jones film with a bumbling Buffoon of Sean Connery and Mickey Mouse jokes?
As for your second question these are my personal top 10:
1. Empire strikes back
2. The Godfather Part II
3. Pulp Fiction
4. Apocalypse Now
5. The Dark Knight Rises
6. Raiders of the lost ark
7. Platoon
8. One flew over the cuckoos nest
9. Interstellar
10. Titanic
Alright, you've got a fantastic top ten other than TDKR. The movie is so trash imo and ruined the trilogy.
There's so much wrong with it right from the get go, below is a link to the opening plane scene, when they blow out the tail of the jet, where did the wires that were holding it up go? and the cargo plane that's pulling the jet? Why am I looking at the sky?
Plane scene - https://youtu.be/rurhk1hadp8?t=198
There's a serious lack of attention to detail in this movie, it felt like Nolan just wanted to be done with Batman.
Then there's Bane's comical accent, how can anyone find him a threat when he sounds like a Muppet.
Accent - https://youtu.be/j2tE-BCwZtw?t=109
Surely if the many glaring issues with TDKR don't bother you, then the ones from Crusade shouldn't either. Especially when Crusade is intentionally light hearted and fun, but the TDKR is meant to be dark and serious.
Lol ok now you’ve exposed yourself as a troll, you defend that piece of trash LC yet you nit pick TDKR, go back to your play pen kid . TDKR was by far my greatest theater experience ever and is easily IMO the greatest conclusion to any trilogy
shareDid I hurt the little hypocrites feelings because I don't like something you do? Its alright to point out flaws in one movie but not the other? lol okay, sorry.
Not at all I couldn’t care less about what you think of me, just pointing out your blatant hypocrisy and calling you out for trolling
shareWhere did I say Crusade was good, If I did, then you could call me a hypocrite. It's decent though, but certainly not worthy of a top ten, it's the worst one in the trilogy, but it's still fun and there's plenty to like about it, like an Adam Sandler or Martin Lawrence movie.
The Waterboy, National Security - Shit movies, but fun. Crusade, fun.
Yes, what better way to defend your opinion than to not say anything worthwhile and just call me a troll and have a little tantrum instead of looking at TDKR objectively and realizing it's got a lot of flaws.
If you can hate crusade for having flaws, then others can dislike TDKR for having them too.
The whole premise of this thread is you being a hypocrite who lacks the ability to see how others can like something you don't, while simultaneously lacking the ability to not be able to see how others can dislike something that you do. It's comical.
Last Crusade wasn’t fun however it was infuriatingly bad on all levels. Saying it’s even on the same level as TDKR is no different than saying disaster movie is as good as Casablanca it’s preposterous
share"2. The Godfather Part II"
So you liked only the latter half of The Godfather. I seem to recollect that you thought Godfather and Godfather 2 were one movie when we discussed earlier whether The Godfather saga was a trilogy or not.
That’s fine you can change it to just The Godfather if you want the first half is amazing as well
