Alex ugly as hell

How ugly was Glenn close in this movie. LMAO it's hard to understand how they casted her in this

reply

Totally agree. Love the movie but never did think she was the right choice. I think they should've reversed her and Ann Archer though not sure Archer could've played the psycho role convincingly.

She's not pretty, but could be considered hot or sexually appealing in a libido sort of way. I admit she is more attractive as the story progresses. But, her face? Not pretty. Sorry.

reply

Oh gee! Maybe Glenn Close is not classically beautiful, but she looked great in this film. She was just what a horny married guy would want. She was sensuous, attractive, and very available!!

In the scene where she basically seduces the idiot married guy, she is wearing white and looking almost innocent and virginal. And, btw, Michael Douglas is no Adonis!! I could never understand his appeal in any of his movies. He has that creepy, lecherous grin on his face all the time.

well said. good points.

I agree with the OP. I never understood the appeal of Sigourney Weaver, either, and some other actresses/models in the 1980's with the mannish features.

THE APPEAL OF AN ACTOR IS ACTING.

SUSPENSION OF DISBELIEF IS DEPENDENT ON OTHER FACTORS TOO

I'm guessing that Glenn Close, even when she was "young" had a decidedly matronly vibe to her appearance. Thus, she isn't exactly the first woman you would think when casting a femme fatale. I always thought that it was funny that she played the wholesome, almost angelic nice girl that Robert Redford should be with in The Natural and then turned around and played this disturbingly obsessive, possibly borderline personality disorder suffering harpy in Fatal Attraction.

However, many over actresses would give a lesser preformance or not being able to pull it off at all.

Just thank that Glenn Close doing an amazing and memorable job.

reply

Never found her attractive and the hairstyle dosent help, but she usually acts everyone off the screen, great actress!

reply

She was not attractive.

reply

Close does a great job in this film and makes you fear and hate the sick bitch which takes skill, so I respect her work and wouldn’t really want to recast a role which has become iconic, but the problem remains - why would Douglas cheat on his smoking hot and lovely wife with the considerably less attractive Close?

reply

I find Glenn Close very sexy in this film. Would definitely bang.

To answer the question 3 years ago from Drooch..........the reason is simple:

Every man covets some strange.

Even the husband of Adriana Lima....or Christy Brinkley.....or Cindy Crawford....or (insert ANY amazing beauty here).....every, and I mean EVERY man covets some strange. And it doesn't even need to be some strange that is equal to or better than the beauty of the incumbent. It just......needs.....to be......some strange.

It's rude and it's wrong. And it's never discussed out in the open. But in the end, this is as true and consistent as gravity itself.

Men.......covet.....some STRANGE.

Full stop.

Full stop.

reply

There's a thrill to cheating, and women get that thrill all the same.

reply

Thats all true .

Some men also feel the need to post that they wouldnt "bang" certain actresses even though we all know they'd jump at the chance , because strange if nothing else . Also a step up from the nothing theyre probaly getting.

Alex (Glenn Close) looks pretty dang sharp to me. And she has a more shapely body compared to Beth (Anne Archer), which isn't to say that Beth is unattractive. As the story progresses, we see how truly disturbed Alex is; then it's only natural to view her as ugly.
