A lot! At least a pack a day. My mom was really a chain smoker in her later years. She would go through a carton a week. And that was after several bouts of pneumonia and needing to be on oxygen.
She would leave the oxygen tank in her bedroom and smoke in the kitchen. Her mom, my grandmother was a big smoker too. She lived to 77. Mom made it to 83. Could hardly breathe. Wish she would have quit years ago.
Agree with the OP about those two times. But Edith was always motivated to do the right thing. Edith always tried to do the right thing though. She thought she was helping Archie. In the second instance, she did not want to insult Louise by refusing her invitation.
But it was wrong to spring it on Archie!
Sometimes she overdid the nice thing, like trying to deliberately lose at playing cards. Edith thought it would cheer up Archie if he won. But it only hurt his pride.
Wow, I didn’t realize that if I waited long enough I would be in agreement with Rob Reiner about something! Although I have never confronted strangers or anyone out in public about smoking.
I used to nag my parents to quit when I was a kid. I was always scared they would get lung cancer. But neither one ever did and they lived to ripe old age.
You mean that she’ll be bunking with Prince Andrew?😀
Again, you just can never know what ends a marriage.
I have several Lucy bios. In one book, her daughter Luci says that she and her brother would have to play quietly on weekends because their parents would sleep late. They were exhausted after all the hours they spent at the studio.
She said that they were basically raised by their grandmother DeeDee Ball and their nanny. It was sad that Lucy and Desi really wanted a family and when they finally had children they were too busy to be parents.
There was a lot of stress in the Arnaz household. Desi took on many responsibilities for the show and by the last season of ILL he was producing other shows for Desilu. They had great success artistically and financially. But the Arnazes couldn’t make their private life work.
I always take the side of the canine!
But you may have something there. I was watching a pet show one time where a woman had a rescue dog. It would go crazy and get upset around her boyfriend. It did not like men in general. Turned out that it was abused by its former owner, a man.
So yes, maybe the band leader reminded Quincy of his former owner. After all, he was a rescue dog. Someone got rid of him. So we don’t know if he was subject to abuse.
In my own experience I have always found dogs be be more loyal than a lot of people I know.😇
Just watched this one the other night and I did have tears in my eyes.
I wonder if Quincy took a bite out of the band director or just took a bite out of his uniform!
What was it about the band leader that Quincy disliked. When a dog as placid as Quincy takes a real dislike to someone, I always suspect the person.
😊 I don’t think she was a real deep thinker. All candidates get help in preparation for debates and speeches. But she was always caught off guard when she had to think for herself,
In school when we were trying to figure out an answer, sometimes the teachers would say, “Let’s put on our thinking caps.”
I think Kamala’s cap must have fallen off her head.
Your “welcome to the internet” has come many years too late. 😁Rudeness and bullying are a part of life. I am well aware of that.
I can’t believe I forgot about Rachel Levine! She was health secretary in my home state of Pennsylvania. Her picture was often in the news. I worked in a restaurant at the time and when I referred to Dr. Levine as “she”, the cook would go off.
“That’s a guy in a dress”, he would yell.
Dr Levite’s specialties are Psychiatry and Pediatrics. A deadly combination if you ask me because she is in favor of “gender affirming treatments” for young teens. So, people too young to get a driver’s license, vote, rent a car or sign a legal document can decide to commit to life altering changes which cannot be undone.
The good doctor is a bit of a hypocrite since she was glad she waited until she was in her fifties and had fathered two children with her wife. She said that she could not imagine life without her kids. But she does not want the same option for young teens.
I get seriously confused. As a man, Richard Levine married a woman. Now that she’s a woman is she attracted to men? Or did she turn into a lesbian? People that present such a confusing background should not be counseling children!
RFK, Jr. surely can’t do any worse!
