Many people have ranted about her lack of charisma. But personally I disagree with that. I think she has plenty charisma. What are your thoughts?

shareThat's the proof. People with charisma have strong personalities and stand out because of it. Everyone aware of them has a sense of who the person is. You don't get that with Beyonce. She has been around for decades now and people don't really have any idea who she really is as a person.

This is true. I'd never really thought about it before, but you're right. I know nothing about Beyonce's personality. For such a famous person in an age of social media and reality TV, she's done a brilliant job of keeping herself private.
Even with that though, she can still be a charismatic performer, can't she?

As a performer (as opposed to a personality. Which we don't really know much about.), she definitely has that trait, doesn't she?

shareBeyonce definitely has charisma. You can argue other things, but that is the one thing she does have. Can she sing as good as Etta James. Maybe not. I don’t think charisma is the word you want. I don’t think anyone is ranting. The links are weak.
1st link - says the movie is awful and everyone says the same - What was Steve Martin thinking. Is Clive Owen’s role necessary. Chugging of Richard Dreyfus. Beyonce can’t act.
2nd link is of Ashlee Simpson.
3rd one - he’s a reputable TV Critic of the Boston Globe and is commenting on a documentary of hers in 2013. He doesn’t see how Beyoncé can compare to Whitney Houston or Michael Jackson. Many can agree on that. He asks if she’s relevant. This is what bothers this guy. Her relevance. Actually, his question is she really worthy of greatness?
I don’t think charisma is the word you want.
We’re all in agreement then. Beyoncé has charisma. Except for the guy you mention at the Boston Globe doesn’t think so. And one poster here who says we don’t know her. You’ll have to define charisma “compelling attractiveness or charm that can inspire devotion in others.”

shareIt’s ok I’m a big fan but I’m not precious about it. I see your point too, there are artists who make a huge cultural impact and then there are artists who ride the wave of current trends without being a major influence creatively.
I think Kylie’s impact has been stronger in Europe and definitely in Australia, considering she is the most successful Australian female artist of all time.
I don’t dislike Beyoncé really, but I agree with what you say about her impact.
You summed it up perfectly. I would compare Beyonce to Rihanna. They compete in the same niche, but Rihanna is a far better artist who even draws on African chants in her music. Rihanna is a creative genius whose talent is ignored in favor of that screaming hack Beyonce.

Yeah, to that point I’d also add that sometimes vocal gymnastics are mistakenly used to gauge an artist’s worth. Case in point (from my era) Whitney Houston and Madonna. I can’t count the times I’ve seen people compare the two and Madonna always comes off worse from the purists who think that because Whitney could hit notes that shatter glass she was somehow a more credible artist than Madonna. Completely ignoring the fact that Madonna writes all of her music, and Whitney wrote none. Not to mention the huge impact Madonna had on the zeitgeist, bringing underground, ethnic trends to the mainstream, challenging sexual and societal norms all the way, while Whitney was firmly in her MOR lane, in many ways making “whiter”, safer, more socially digestible music than her rival.
