Christina Applegate Has Sparked Outrage With Her Followers With Her Reaction to the 2024 Presidential Election
https://www.yahoo.com/entertainment/christina-applegate-sparked-outrage-her-155539974.html
As the US and the rest of the world begin to reckon with Donald Trump‘s reelection into the White House as the 47th President of the United States, Christina Applegate is making her outrage against the results crystal clear.share
On X, the Dead to Me star isn’t shying away from showing how disappointed she is over Kamala Harris‘ defeat.
“Please unfollow me if you voted against female rights. Against disability rights. Yeah, that,” the actress, who had been open about her battle with MS since 2021, wrote. “Unfollow me because what you did is unreal. Don’t want followers like this. So yeah. Done.”
In fact, in addition to not wanting any Trump voters to support her, Applegate seems ready to abandon social media altogether. “Also after today, I will be shutting down this fan account that I have had for so many years because this is sick,” she continued.
Prior to the election results being finalized, Applegate, who’s a mom to 13-year-old daughter Sadie Grace LeNoble, already showed her frustration.
“Why? Give me your reasons why?????” she wrote on X. “My child is sobbing because her rights as a woman may be taken away. Why? And if you disagree, please unfollow me.”
In her replies, many of her followers are fighting back against her stance.
“Done,” one user wrote, hinting that they’ve already unfollowed the actress. “I have a severely disabled kid, I’m a woman, and you’re woefully misinformed. Good luck.” Applegate then went on to respond. “Bye. And sorry. See ya on the other side,” she wrote. “I’m sure I will have a better seat.”
*****OUTRAGE!!!**** ::massive violent eye roll::
share[deleted]
She told her daughter WHAT so that she's now sobbing? If she lives in California, her daughter lost ZERO rights. The person who responded to her is right -- she's woefully misinformed.
share"“My child is sobbing because her rights as a woman may be taken away"

But they will not....... the media portrayed it that way, sure.
But they lie all the time..
Going on social media and arguing with spastics is the last thing you should do when you're struggling in life. You're only going to feel more hopeless and lost.
When she first started talking about "pissing out of her ass" and wearing adult diapers I just felt bad. Maybe this is her way of dealing with it and she feels better getting it all out there and having flame wars with retards, but she should just talk to her fans about her great career instead of getting into it with all the twitter tards.
I agree. I don't do a lot of social media. The only reason I have that account is because my oldest son is on there and I like to see his art. I came across an article that mentioned her and her reaction. I was a bit surprised to see her posts. I don't think I will ever understand getting that worked up over online people that you will never meet. 😕
shareUm...this is social media. It's not one of the big ones, but it's still a social media site.
shareSocial media such as Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp, tiktok, those kinds of sites. But yes, I do some social media sites like this one, Youtube, reddit, Twitch.
I edited my comment.
You didn’t need to edit, what you meant was quite obvious to me. Also you’re not really wrong, though forums and chat rooms are NOW classed as social media, they pre-date the term and the platforms you mentioned.
I don’t really consider this site social media either, and I’m not on any of those platforms, with the massive exception of YouTube which I’m fully addicted to.
I do use Messenger to stay in touch with family and friends but it’s good you don’t need a Facebook account for that anymore.
Thank you 😊
I'm a youtube addict too! So much fun and interesting content on there. I started to get into reddit because some people I know post short stories and stuff like that there but now it's just filled with people angry over the election and each other. It's crazy.
I was a bit surprised to see her posts.
I know someone who suffered through MS and I'm thinking that maybe that's behind her agression? I don't know. She's certainly entitled to vent and voice her opinion, but I admit I was surprised to see those posts as well. And then again, she is only human and we all have our bad days. I don't go online and take it out on a bunch of people I have never met but to each their own.
I adored her in 'Married With Children' & 'Don't Tell Mom the Babysitter's Dead' and also, 'Vacation'. I know it was panned and didn't do well but she was my favorite part of that movie. 😊
Yes I'm guessing this is her way of dealing with her illness. Very sad.
I didn't like the vacation reboot (because ed helms blows) but she was good in Wonderland, Wild Bill, and View from the Top. You can find a lot of hidden gems in her filmography. Very good actress.
Agreed 😔
Yes, I hate admitting that I liked it but some of those silly, crap movies do appeal to me every once in a while. It's certainly not one I would watch over and over though. Or spend money on, lol.
I'll have to look at more of her films! My favorite of hers will always be 'Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy'.
She's the one who comes across as a "spastic" and a "retard", though.
shareI used to read some of her twitter posts before her illness and she came across as a very nice person, just like a lot of her characters I've watched over the years in film & tv.
This MS illness has obviously broke her spirit. Her physical illness has obviously taken a toll on her mental state.
It's like all these anti-male feminists you come across in life. They might not be physically impaired, but mentally they have the equivalent of an MS-type illness which forces them to despise men and have victim complexes.
Which bit of her ranty tweeting makes her a " anti-male feminist" ?
She was very angry, that's for sure. I'm kind of curious to know if that guy gave her his number, lol. 😄
shareWhat kind of imbecile would respond to a post like that? Especially with an angry rant. Has she only been online for ten minutes?
shareIt's insane how angry people are over this election. Don't go to reddit. It's much worse.. 🙄
shareIt's just mind boggling how some people are falling over themselves to publicly say the most embarrassingly stupid things their addled feverish brains can conjure. And it's all a matter of record!
I've certainly said my share of dumb things online but I don't have thousands or millions of followers either.. 😋
shareThat reminds me, I need to go check out Jezebel. They've gotta have some hilarious meltdowns right now.
shareI don't have a problem with disability rights. I do have a problem with killing babies.
shareMe too.
She talks about her daughter's "rights as a woman" being taken away. I assume that she is talking about abortion. I wonder if she now feels like she had a right to end her daughter's life in the womb, had she chosen to do that. For that matter, I wonder if her daughter feels that her mother really had that right.
I hate how they call it 'rights' no one should have that right. I sympathize with a lot of peoples situations but at the end of the day it's an evil thing to take an innocent life for any reason. I just wish the government could provide more help for unfit or unstable mothers and single mothers. People also need to be educated better on parenting and the stakes that are involved with sex outside of marriage.
shareI agree with all of that. Well said.
Terms like "women's rights" and "reproductive health" are nothing more than coded euphemisms for murdering unborn infants. Leftists know that they have to use these softening terms in order to sell the idea to the public and successfully convince women that abortion isn't actually taking a life.
Exactly. I was actually thinking that but you put it so well. I just had a brainwave and thinking it would be worth bringing up if someone was member of parliament or something. I actually am starting to wonder how someone would go about getting into politics or having some kind of a platform or influence. I'm in Canada and I don't know how someone would go about trying to be in a position like that. I would have never considered that in a million years... I'm not a fan of how politicians operate and I can't public speak unless I had a script, haha. But I would love to get that message out there. I always said calling it murder/killing is like calling a spade a spade because that's what it is.
shareHaha it just dawned on me that your name is PrimeMinister.
shareIt bothers me how much they rejoice when they gain this "right" to kill their unborn. I will agree that in some cases it might be the preferred option but to be so giddy about it is unnerving. They are more interested in their "rights" then their responsibilities. There are many ways to have sex without becoming pregnant, one of the most effective of course is not to have sex.
shareI agree. I am a Christian and I mean it seriously when I say that a lot of what we're seeing in the western world today is Satanic. Some of these people seem like they are literally being influenced by demonic powers. It is not rational or sane to be excited about the prospect of ending a life that they themselves created and that lives inside of them.
shareAnd why does the father never have a say? It's in her body but that is just biology, that baby is partially his.
And then you have the Trans thing where just because a kid says they are the other gender they have to be believed and operated on. How is that ethical? That is some weird Nazi experimental stuff going on.
Can you give me an idea of what she replied with? I can see that fuckwit’s imbecilic post, but since I would rather stab hot needles into my eyes than join X, I can’t read the replies.
shareHer replies:
"Are you fucking kidding me? Get on the phone now. Give me your number!!!" and:
"I will ruin you. Don’t fuck with a disabled woman who also, you assfuck oxygen thief probably trumper piece of shit, will have. Better life than you sitting in your mamas basement. Don’t even try me"
Thanks. Yes, I would say she’s not pleased.
That’s the thing about replies written in moments of rage, they never have quite the impact intended. There are a million ways she could have eviscerated a knucklehead like that guy without losing her proverbial shit. I’m sure five minutes pause before responding would have made all the difference.
You have to feel for her though. She has a whole lot on her plate. Her concerns about women’s rights potentially being flushed down the toilet in light of the election result are fair, too.
Bless you Christina.
She also told her followers that voted for Trump to unfollow her and said she was cancelling all of her fan accounts. But then she apologized this morning. She has a right to speak her mind and vent but I agree with you, it could have been handled better but I also feel she has more important things that she is dealing with and should ignore the online weirdos.
I still admire her and find her to be inspiration for people suffering from any form of debilitating illness. I cannot imagination how much pain she is going through. Bless her indeed 💗
Is "women's rights" code for the supposed right to kill unborn kids?
shareNo, otherwise that’s what I would have said. Since you mention codes though, if that question was actually asking if I myself am pro-choice, the answer is yes.
Anything else we need to decipher here?
I had already gathered that you were pro-choice by your post.
But any time people speak of "women losing their rights," they are usually talking about abortion. Though it is of course absurd. There is no right to murder.
However, I am curious: If you weren't talking about abortion, what right do women currently have that you think will be under threat under the Trump administration?
I didn’t say I wasn’t talking about abortion, but to phrase it as killing unborn kids is wilfully inflammatory. Sorry if I got that wrong, I’m used to people referring to me personally as a baby killer or lunatic leftist when I state my views on the matter.
shareIt may be inflammatory but it's important not to speak in euphemisms.
We don't have to debate it--which would probably be pointless anyway--but in my firm view, what exists in the womb is a life. It doesn't suddenly become a living thing just because it changes location. For that matter, it's not the heartbeat that makes it a living organism either.
I wouldn’t mind debating it actually, you’ve shown yourself as capable of a rational discussion without the need to throw petty insults at each other. Bloody refreshing! I don’t have time right now but I’ll drop my thought about it here later.
shareI'm on the way to bed but I'll type something up for you tomorrow which will make my position clear. I do agree that it's nice to have a normal conversation rather than an argument full of ad hominem attacks.
shareThe typical cliche left winger response. These children are so easily triggered once can’t help but laugh.
shareWell I agree her meltdown wasn’t the best look, but let’s not pretend the post she was responding to was anything close to an intelligent, productive statement itself.
To me it looks like a jerk saying inflammatory shit who got a jerk response to it. No winners as far as I can see.
Christina Applegate apologizes for firing back at commenters in wake of Donald Trump's victory
https://variety.com/2024/film/news/christina-applegate-apologizes-angry-tweets-trump-wins-election-1236203575/
“Please unfollow me if you voted against female rights. Against disability rights. Yeah that. Unfollow me because what you did is unreal,” Applegate tweeted in response to Trump's victory. “Don’t want followers like this. So yeah. Done. Also after today I will be shutting down this fan account that I have had for so many years because this is sick.” Applegate's tweet led to people challenging her and/or trolling her, which she responded with by going after individual tweeters, telling them to "f*ck off." Applegate later apologized, tweeting: “I apologize. I’m still reeling and sobbing. But I’m not angry anymore. Just going to go back to my bubble and watch a shit ton of Bravo shows So peace to all. I suggest you do the same. Very soothing.”
Bravo tv is shit.
shareShe's acting like a lunatic. It's such a shame that almost all Hollywood people seem to be Leftist fanatics.
There was a time when entertainers kept their political opinions to themselves. They wanted to appeal to as many people as possible and so remained politically neutral. As Michael Jordan once said, "Republicans buy sneakers, too."
Those were the good old days. Now almost the entire American film industry is little more than an activist arm of the DNC.
While I support every individual’s right to voice their opinion (as you and I are both doing right now, incidentally) I do tend to agree with you that celebrity endorsements are annoying. Who really cares if Christina hates Trump or if Mel Gibson compares Harris’ intelligence to that of a fence post? I do think it’s classier for celebrities to keep quiet on politics, especially if they’re trying to influence voters one way or another.
shareI'm glad that we agree on that.
It's difficult to be a fan of a person when that person has made statements that indicate that they hate you.
Hard, yes, but not impossible. Take Mel for example, I have no doubt that he would want nothing to with me personally for several reasons he has voiced loudly in the past, but I ignore that and enjoy him for the exceptionally talented actor and director he is. Hate me if you want Mel, I’ll still watch your movies!
shareHi PrimeMinisterX! How have you been? 😊
I believe everyone has the right to voice their opinions. However, with celebrities and the way people follow and idolize them, I think they need to keep it to themselves as well. It seems like it wasn't very long ago that they did.
Even so, I am stunned by some of the incredibly ignorant things I have heard some of them say out loud for all to hear.
Hi SPP! I hope you're doing well!
Growing up in the 80s and 90s I don't remember Hollywood people being very political. Musicians sometimes were, but not so much actors and directors. Some time ago I ran across a quote from a Golden Age actor on the subject but I can't seem to find it now. I think it may have been from Cary Grant but it might have been someone else. Whoever it was, he essentially said that actors shouldn't speak publicly about political matters and I specifically remember a line about how they're "not experts on these things." I also know that Kurt Russell has said that actors should keep their political views to themselves and I have heard people talk about how no one ever knew anything about Johnny Carson's personal political views.
When you're an entertainer, that really seems like the best course to take. Why alienate half the country--and also people in other parts of the world--when it's your job to be likable and draw people in to see the show?
Thank you! I hope you are doing well too! 🥰
Yeah, I was born in 1971 and I agree, through the 80's and 90's you rarely heard of actors / actresses talking about their political and/or religious views. All I remember is mainly musicians putting together songs and videos to bring awareness to poverty and hunger in 3rd world countries. I can't decide if they knew better back then or if social media has empowered them to be more bold and speak up. In any case you are right, they should keep their opinions to themselves if they don't want to alienate their fans. Tom Cruise seems to be an anomaly. Many people hate his religious views yet they flock to see his movies and look at how successful he's been.
I think the problem now is people forget that these celebrities are just normal human beings. Seeing them rant and rave shouldn't be any more shocking than seeing some random person on the street doing the same. I admit I found Christina Applegate's response to that guy's post kinda funny and I would love to know if he did give her his number, lol!
I think you're right, at least in part, about social media. The Internet has given celebrities the ability to interact directly with the public in a way that they never had in the past. I think another problem is that Hollywood has become such a place that they reward the kind of behavior that we're talking about and so I'm sure actors will chase the kudos by being as vocal as possible and virtue signalling as much as they can.
In regard to celebrities being normal human beings, I think that many of them have lost sight of this fact themselves. They always have cameras in their faces and people fawning over them and they start to buy into their own hype after a while.
She's acting like a lunatic. It's such a shame that almost all Hollywood people seem to be Leftist fanatics.
" It was only during lunch behind closed doors when they could talk politics if the subject came up without fear of being called racists, homophobic, xenophobic, misogynists, etc."
That's awful! People should be free to discuss their views and opinions without being called names or assaulted with insults. 😠
Your story reminds me of when I stumbled into the r/libraries subreddit. I can't seem to find it now but there was a post where a bunch of librarians were freaking out about Trump getting re-elected. I already pretty much knew that this was true, but that was just confirmation that the world of public libraries is run by liberals and you probably can't even function in those circles as a vocal conservative.
I really hate that influential power structures like academia (of which libraries are an extension), the media, and the entertainment industry have essentially just been taken over by the Left. I wonder sometimes how we as a country even allowed that to happen.
Yes most of Hollyweird are Left Wing loonies, they seem to be unable to comprehend that no one cares about them and that the majority have decided on a change of Govt. Then you have singers like Springsteen who is supposed to be some kind of working class folk hero yet is oblivious to the fact that the working class have rejected the Democrats.
They are out of touch.
I agree they should just entertain but most of them aren't even good at that.
"They are out of touch." Totally agree with this. It's almost as if they think they've reached a god-like status and that people will follow them as such. Sadly, some do and I will never understand that. 🙄
shareShe is crying about the loss of disabled rights yet thinks a woman should have the right to murder a disabled unborn baby?
shareAn embryo ain’t a baby 🤣
share
I've never once heard a woman saying she was "with embryo", or "I felt the embryo kick today", or sadly - "we lost the embryo"... but OK - by definition it isn't a baby until it passes out of the birth canal. Fair enough.
But it doesn't change the fact it's still a human life that is snuffed out during the abortion procedure.
It’s not a human being anymore than a sperm cell is, it’s a microscopic cluster of cells invisible to the naked eye.
Women say “they’re pregnant” in the first week.
Technically your hair follicle is also “human life.”
It’s not a human being anymore than a sperm cell is
Technically your hair follicle is also “human life.”
Women say “they’re pregnant” in the first week.
Both sperm cells and fertilized eggs are not human beings, despite containing human life.
A hair follicle can be cloned into a human being.
You’re being pedantic and trying to argue semantics. An embryo is not a baby. End of discussion.
It's actually you arguing semantics, trying to lessen the severity of what you're describing. Anything to escape the cognitive dissonance of OKing the killing of unborn human life as a form of contraception. An embryo will become a foetus if nature runs it's course which is an unborn baby, a hair follicle remains a hair follicle.
share"as a form of contraception"
You just had to throw that in didnt you .
No woman intentionally throws aside actual contraception because they want abortion to be their method of contraception
Don't get triggered by reality, yes some women absolutely do use abortion as contraceptive, some even brag about it after and you try to tell people not to believe their own experiences. Weak.
https://youtube.com/clip/UgkxlxQ6OJ9zbTg4ULD5pVKuht1oHfR9NHGE?si=3bfhxHUtLgu2n1kt
Still not a human being, by definition, no matter how hard you try to spin it mctardo!
shareWhat is the then a rabbit? Ofc it's a human being, it's an unborn human being. Play as many semantic words games as you like but it doesn't change that.
shareNo it’s not a human being by the very definition of the word. This has nothing to do with semantics when it doesn’t fit the definition to begin with.
shareAn embryo is not a baby. End of discussion.
Everything “has life.” The mold on my carpet has “life.” My ass-hair also has “human life” complete with “human DNA”. That still doesn’t make a zygote a human being. It’s a microscopic cluster of cells invisible to the naked eye.
It’s not a human being. It is at best a parasite. End of discussion.
It’s not a human being. It is at best a parasite.
