Sam Elliot slams ‘The Power of the Dog’ as ‘piece of shit’ film: ‘Where’s the Western in this Western?’

That was 5 weeks today. He just caved to the SJW mob today:

Sam Elliott said "I want to apologize to the cast of The Power of the Dog, brilliant actors all. ... I can only say that I'm sorry."

The actor slammed the film, which is nominated for 12 Academy Awards. During an episode of "WTF With Marc Maron," Elliot, 77, was asked if he had seen the film yet, to which Elliot replied: "You want to talk about that piece of s---?"

Elliot referenced a full-page ad in the Los Angeles Times that featured a review blurb that described the film as "an evisceration of the American myth."

"I thought, what the f---?" Elliott said of the adaptation from the 1967 novel by Thomas Savage. "This is a guy who has done Westerns his entire life. ‘The evisceration of the American myth.’ It looked like — what are all those dancers, those guys in New York that wear bow ties and not much else? Remember them from back in the day?"

"I mean, Cumberbatch never got out of his f---ing chaps," Elliot maintained of the film. "He had two pairs of chaps — a wooly pair and a leather pair. And every f---ing time he would walk in from somewhere … he never was on a horse, maybe once — he’d walk into the f---ing house, storm up the f---ing stairs, go lay in his bed in his chaps and play his banjo. It’s like, what the f---?"

When Elliot was the silent type and just hid behind the great mustache roles that he had - he was great, but when he actually has to talk or express an opinion, he comes off like an idiot. Haven't seen the movie, and most likely won't.

Sam Elliott is done for.

Maybe you should watch the film before calling Sam an idiot for having an opinion on it. Just a thought.

reply

Why?

reply

Why?

Sam didn't, before he voiced HIS opinion!

reply

Hahaha, love that guy!

I haven't seen the movie in question, but clearly Elliot cares about a certain level of detail and historical accuracy and I fully agree with that. The "chaps everywhere" thing is a perfect example. These things have purpose, to keep the RIDER save from thorny bushes or other possible dangers to his legs, they weren't worn because "they look cool".

Same shit with spurs everywhere on everyone. If you do not excessively work with horses, what the fuck would you need spurs for? Ah right, they look cool.

Just too bad he lost his spine to the SJW hyenas after all.
I would expected Sam to be one of the few that rather go down guns blazin'.
But love him either way. He probably thought it ain't worth it and backed down.

Fuck this SJW culture, it ruins everything it touches.

reply

Ugh, another hero fallen.

The Rainbow Reich eventually brings everyone under their reign. The war against heterosexuality continues... *sigh*

reply

Why is he apologising to the cast?

Its the book / script / screenwriter that made it what it is.
The cast are just props

reply

Even Wade Garrett has been brought to his knees, humbled and made to apologize.
Damn you, SJW.

There is video in the article below and I don't think he retracted his initial statement about the film. He did apologize for hurting people and said Campion is a brilliant director. I think he was right and he shouldn't have to apologize. The kiwi director should have made her gay film about a bunch of NZ sheep herders or hobbits. She doesn't know $h1t about the American West and she should not have taken a dump on the American cowboy. I enjoyed the Dr. Strange movie BUT I will not watch that wannabe gay cowboy in any future movies.

Uncle Ted said it best:

Snakeskin cowboys
Who the hell you think you are
Dancing around with your high-heeled boots
Don't think that should get too far

reply

Pretty late apology. Makes me think Hollywood producers suddenly stopped returning his phone calls. Might have lost a few projects he had lined up.

What no one mentions:
In spite of having the kind of face we associate with the old west when we romanticize it:
Sam Elliott grew up in California and studied psychology at college in Portland Oregon.
Sam Elliot was never a cowboy.
Sam Elliott is an actor (probably a profession that would have made him the target of much amusement and bullying in the actual old west.

reply

Sam Elliott knows the ways of a cowboy, and that's that.

Don't poke holes in the last of our heroes, 3Channels.
Damn you!
