bruce lee - the drug addict

I gotto say, this is a nuclear bombshell. It changes the whole perception of Bruce Lee and puts everyone's testimony in question. Linda Lee was complicit in making the deals to procure more drugs for Bruce. The real cause of Bruce's death is once again in question, since the brain swelling he's had can often be caused by the use of cocaine/cocaine overdose. Judging by the last few letters, Bob Baker nearly stopped interacting with Bruce Lee/Linda - I keep wondering if Bruce's suggestion for Bob to 'take care of his family and children' was a thinly veiled threat due to lack of new product coming in. The Legend is falling apart at its core and the reality appears to be worse than what Tarantino had depicted.

Wow, a dude in the 70s used drugs! Who would have imagined?

reply

It's weird, because even hash could have killed him

All I'm saying is that the legend of bruce lee was built on a house of cards - and utter bullshit, perpetuated by his family and friends

And yeah - I'm actually shocked, because I believed their story, but now I'm realizing it was all bullshit - call me naïve

The thing is, Bruce Lee always came off as a very intelligent man during the interviews, so this is quite shocking. This whole scenario reminds me of Vladimir Visotsky - a Russian poet/singer/actor and a huge critic of the soviet leadership. He also came off as being very intelligent - but he used amphetamines in order to do more work and to overcome his hangovers. His habit ate at him and his body/mind and eventually killed him, despite his numerous attempts to quit. So, every time I see someone seemingly intelligent end up hiding a horrible drug addiction that kills them - it really does surprise me quite a bit. But at this point, it's quite clear that intelligence is no cure for drug addiction - and drug addiction can be hidden with eloquence.

Dude, he took some drugs in the 70s. Good for him. Everybody did. People wasn't that puritan and picky back then.

And as long as I know, Lee wasn't speaking out against drugs. He would have been an hypocrite... oh, wait! that didn't happen.

The thing is, Bruce Lee always came off as a very intelligent man during the interviews, so this is quite shocking.

Then you'll be shocked when you hear that people with higher intelligence are more prone to use drugs, but way less prone to get hooked. You don't see many high IQ junkies. Lee enjoyed some drugs and didn't get hooked. Again, good for him.

reply

Umm - it seems to me like he was pretty hooked.

reply

Based on...?

reply

the letters

reply

In the letters he asks somebody to ship him some drugs, which is a reasonable way to get them. You said 'hooked', and that needs something more.

Otherwise, you tell somebody to bring a beer pack, that means you're an alcoholic.

reply

lmao well said. This is like, not even a smoking gun.

I'm sure he did drugs, just like I'm sure Bob Ross looked at porn. Like, who gives a fuck.

reply

lol
Your lawyer talk is very refreshing, thanks ;)
Next Bruce Lee bio book will be titled 'if i did it'

reply

Or: "I did Not have Drugs with that Woman."

reply

You don't see many high IQ junkies because once you become a junkie and slide down to being the homeless bum on the streets your mind is already so fucked up you couldn't take an IQ test to save your life let along get a high score. I've known people that were smart as hell but got hooked on drugs during college only to end up flunking out and becoming fucked up junkies. Being smart isn't a magic formula that keeps you from becoming a drug addict. If you take drugs and have the wrong genetics you'll become an addict no matter what your IQ is. Some people have a predisposition to addiction and some people don't... that predisposition isn't correlated to your IQ.

What's really shocking was that he was a drug dealer.

reply

Check the definition of "drug dealer" in the dictionary again. Bruce Lee bought for own consumption.

reply

Read one of Linda's final 1973 letters again.

There's an interview that Shek Kin did for Chinese TV where Bruce said to him that he only regarded movies as a side business.

Another Tarantino apologist.

reply

There were rumours at the time that Lee was a drug user. I don't think his use of marijuana was ever really doubted, but there were stories that he was involved with harder stuff.

reply

Lee was *the* Chinese star back then, there was no other. It would have been devastating for millions of young fans if they'd found out their idol died of drugs.

reply

Always suspected it. He had a best friend squad of Hollywood high rollers, sport stars and random rich and influentials. Those people were all big into the party scene. And have you heard the guy talk? lol

reply

"Be water, my friend." xD

But seriously, drugs or not, Bruce Lee was ahead of his time.

reply

Bruce Lee smoked marijuana a few times, that's about it.

reply

I hear he also walked on water - hell, he was water! lol
All the evidence to the contrary is bullshit!

reply

Fist of Fury? More like Sniff of Fury! LOL
