Who are YOUR 4 horsemen of "I'm definitely skipping that movie"?

A friend shared that meme in a group last weekend and it was pretty fun discussion.

Reasons why you skip their movies could vary from:

1. Hate their political stance.
2. Their movies just suck.
3. OR I Just hate them.

There were 2 or 3 overlapping names but the suggestions/picks definitely varied.

Here were/are my personal ones:

1. Gal Gadot - Apart from the first Wonder Woman movie, Don't really care for her. Also, very mediocre actress.

2. Kevin Hart - Never found him funny. Dude just yells.

3. The Rock - Was a huge fan of his wrestling career. And I actually like some of his early films but I have only enjoyed literally ONE of his films in a decade. Jumanji (2017).

4. James Corden - Prick. Nuff said.

Here are some of the most mentioned ones in our lil discussion group:

1. John Travolta
2. Nic Cage
3. Jack Black
4. Amy Schumer
5. Mark Wahlberg
6. Liam Neeson
7. Will Smith (recent thing)
8. Ryan Reynolds
9. Henry Cavill
10. Adam Sandler
11. Jared Leto
12. Robert De Niro
13. Timothy Chalamet
14. Angelina Jolie
15. Megan Fox

P.S. Your don't have to give a reason why you skip their movies. Just mention 4 actors whose projects you (almost) always skip.

reply

16. Julia Roberts
17. Sandra Bullock
18. Halle Berry
19. Channing Tatum

reply

I liked Tatum in the Jump Street movies but that's about it.

I liked Bullock in my teen years. But ya, haven't seen any of her films in ages.

reply

Do I list them 1-4 or continue the list with #20?

reply

Just your 4. Your picks.

Those 15 I listed (plus some of mine) were the most mentioned.

reply

1. Ashton Kutcher - shit actor and an asshole.

2. Kevin Hart - Not funny and has never been in a good film.

3. Seth Rogen - Outside of Superbad, he's annoying and his laugh pisses me off.

4. Kristen Stewart - Other than Panic Room, she's just a miserable person.

reply

Agree on Rogen.

Also, I completely forgot that Kristen Stewart was in Panic Room. That's one of my absolute favorite Fincher movies. Haven't seen it in ages though. Definitely due for a rewatch.

Last thing I saw her in was that movie with Jesse Eisenberg. Forgot what it was called. But he was like a stoner assassin or something.

Eisenberg is another name that came up OFTEN in the discussion.

reply

I've seen Panic Room so many times. Very underrated.

reply

4. Kristen Stewart - Other than Panic Room, she's just a miserable person.

Hey, she was miserable in that too

reply

In her defence, her parents were divorced, her dad found a new woman and thieves broke into her house.

reply

No one really.

You could have someone you hate just nail a part - why would I want to miss out on a possible good movie?

I remember watching this shortlived sci-fi TV show and my better half pointed out that the lead starred in soap operas. His soap opera career meant nothing to me but I liked that show and if I had discounted it because he was a hack actor, I'd have never have seen it.

You get a cookie if you can guess the show.

reply

I get that but our discussion was (and still is) about mainstream actors. Your Vin Diesel, Ryan Reynolds & Sly Stallones of this world.

Like the ''major ones'' whose work you haven't enjoyed in a while.

We only got 2 people saying they stopped watching some of their picks cause of politics. And I personally just don't like James Corden. Sorry not sorry. ha

P.S. Give me a clue WHEN the show came out...

reply

No clues. Primarily because (a) I forget the year and exact title and (b) I'm too lazy too root through my collection to find it. But I do remember that I liked it.

Just think of how delicious that imaginary cookie will be if you guess right.

reply

I was thinking maybe Firefly but I don't think Nathan Fillon was a soap star. I don't know.

Is it Farscape, maybe?

reply

That's two guesses. Now you owe me two cookies. Did I forget to mention that in the rules section?

reply

Oh, dammit! You made up a loophole, you son of a gun!

Fine then, next time your computer or phone asks you to "accept cookies", know that it's from me.

You're welcome.

reply

Oh that's easy:

- Will Ferrel
- Zendaya
- Rachel Zegler
- Bree Larson

reply

Will Ferrell is another one I've never found funny. Painfully unfunny matter of fact.

His best role is still Stranger than Fiction for me.

reply

I'm tempted to watch it, but despite the interesting premise the commercial showed, the story I read on the wikipedia sounds like it resolved itself in a very lame way that falls flat.

reply

Ya, not gonna lie, the ending is pretty weak. But still good movie imo.

reply

Can't stand Corden either. Still find it mind-blowing that he went to America and found fame. He's like a reverse version - in pretty much every way - of that Katherine Ryan...

Having said that, is he really a movie star as such? Thought he was more TV...

If I had to pick four myself, I'd probably go for:-
1. Tom Hanks.
2. Dame Judy Dench
3. Brad Pitt
4. James Cordon (if you're having him as well and he's allowed(!) otherwise Amy Schumer)

reply

Ooh, I remember Katherine from Mock the Week.

James Corden started doing movies after moving to America. I honestly didn't know much about him before then.

Also yeah, all the picks of actors is fair game. You can literally choose anyone.

reply

The four horsemen I like the best: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-zKOhVSERS8
But to answer the OP's question:

Robert De Niro
Kristen Stewart
Ellen Page
Will Smith

reply

Will Smith is a good one. No matter if the movie was great, I can't bear the guy.

reply

I was a huge fan of his up until zmen in Black 3. Haven't liked him in anything since.

Heck even the third Bad Boys movie was "stolen" by Martin Lawrence. He was easily the standout of the movie.

Man, I miss Martin Lawrence on the big screen.

reply

I'll be honest. I've disliked Smith since Fresh Prince. He was the safe black guy for white people.

Yeah, now Martin Lawrence, he's original.

reply

I grew up in the late 90s & early 2000s. Loved Fresh Prince & Will Smith.

He rarely made something I didn't like. He could never miss, for me at least. Heck, I even enjoyed Wild Wild West. Me and 3 other people, probably.

It was the 2010s when "fell out of love" with him. Right around the time he started pushing his kids, especially Jaiden Smith, onto us.

reply

Well I mentioned Fresh Prince to say it wasn't just the bit with Chris Rock which turned me against him. Though that sealed the deal forever. What a pretentious self-entitled jerk. And then to hear his wife cucked him in public? JFC.

I'm an Isaac Asimov fan so I considered seeing I Robot. But clips of Smith in the film made me decide against it.

reply

Idk what the fuck he was thinking. That shit changed a lotta people's perception of him. Turned him into a joke.

Oh ya, you're not missing out much with iRobot. Loved it as a teen but as an adult, not so good.

Will Smith basically "hijacks" the movie. Cliched, predictable af story.

reply

That's the problem with him. Maybe it's good that he's an overwhelming charismatic presence. But for me it's like he sucks all the energy out of any film and it becomes all about him.

I think we'll see him in 10 years come back as an old grandfatherly Uncle Remus type. 🤣

reply

Honestly, it's not THAT difficult to get his career back on track. All he needs to do is:

1. Ditch Jada or he'll forever be known as a cuck.

2. Start working with talented Directors.

Dude just needs a good publicist & a good divorce lawyer. That's it. But seems like his "wife" has his balls in her purse.

reply

I still think there's a core problem with the guy beyond Jada and any director he works with.

reply

Dude, just say what it is. Sorry, not trying to be mean, I just don't see any replies till a couple of hours or sometimes days later.

Wish this site had push notifications! Usually not a fan of 'em but I think this site really needs 'em!

I'm gonna guess you're gonna say Ego though, right? Cause I still think he's a fine actor. Not Denzel or DiCaprio level but certainly can carry his own. Was also super charming in his prime.

reply

Mean? 🤣

Nah, I just hate Will Smith. I hated the sitcom Fresh Prince. I thought it was phony whitewashed bullcrap and the guy is obnoxious. You say "charming", I say "smug".

As I said, Smith plays the same character in every movie. I don't think that's a sign of a good actor.

He's Hollywood's token negro to appeal to white audiences.

reply

Jonah Hill
Seth Rogan
Geena Davis
Viola Davis

Nothing against Davis as a person or actress, but if she's in a project I know it's going to be insufferable. The other three are just the worst most annoying people in show business.

reply

Which Davis are you talking about?

reply

I'm guessing Viola. Could be wrong.

Nothing against her personally but she always looks like she's extremely constipated at all times.

reply

Unfortunately, I think you're right about Viola's constipated look.

reply

I pretty much hate everybody.

ok, I'll play

1. Will Smith ALWAYS hated him, decades before he showed his ass
2. Vin Diesel What a goofy dumb stiff
3. James Woods Has always bugged me
4. Liam Neeson Since he started mailing in all those stupid Taken movies

reply

Duuude, Liam Neeson has been trying to recapture the "magic" of the first Taken movie ever since.

That movie kinda revived his career. It was kinda crazy how it kinda "came outta nowhere" & became a hit & kind of a cultural phenomenon.

Most of his movies afterwards have kinda been relying on the badassery of the first movie. Most, if not all have failed. Including the awful Taken sequels.

reply

Thing is, his earlier career was pretty wonderful. Then he started appearing in all these crappy movies. He weewee wet me down.
