Your dream slow dance song

Think in your mind of a dreamy slow dance moment, the ultimate best ever slow dance. What song would be playing?

For me it would be this one:

Good question....

Let me see what I can whip off the top of my head...

"Open Arms" Journey

Hey how about this one....

"Endless Love" believe it's Lionel and Diana

"Reasons" live version - Earth Wind and Fire

"Babe" - Styx

Nothing else coming to me right now. I'll edit in if something hits me.......

All of those are great choices. Bringing up Styx reminds me of something funny. At the end of the first episode of Freaks and Geeks one of the geeks has been promised a dance by a popular girl at the school dance. He is very nervous about it and is determined to only dance a slow dance with her. He waited until a slow sounding song started and went over and asked her to dance. It was Styx's "Come Sail Away" which starts slow. However by the time they got out on the dance floor and started to dance it picked up its pace and became a fast song and he just had to get through it the best he could. So that's my long-winded way of saying, that one would not be a great slow dance song. 😂

reply

Thanks.

Yeah, "Come Sail Away" definitely picks up, LOL

ANother great one by Styx.

A gathering of angels, appeared above my head

They sang to me this song of hope, and this is what they said, they said.......

That is a lovely song and would be very nice for a slow dance. 🙂

reply

Yeah, she was great.

Do you know she wrote the song as well??

Incredible talent.

Ok, nice chatting with you today 4L

Till next time...

reply

I did not realize that. I actually don't know a lot about Gloria Estefan but I'm always impressed by someone who writes their own music.

Floating by Julee Cruise:

That's really nice PB. I didn't know that song but it's actually kinda magical and dreamy. A good song to escape into during a slow dance.

Twin Peaks got me listening to Julee Cruise

reply

Her album Floating Into The Night is a masterpiece in my humble opinion.

It's a damn shame how she left this world.

reply

That's a great one!

Unchained Melody is made for slow dancing, but it's kind of cliché, so I'm going with this one:

I did not know this song, but it's very pretty. A primo power ballad- perfect for slow dancing.

When I was in the 10th grade around 1980/81 I had a huge crush on a girl in my grade and I used to think about her while listening to that sappy “I Like Dreaming” song. :-)

reply

I love that song and it's a perfect song to dream about someone to. 😊

Careless Whisper is also a favorite of mine. During my slow dance days, this was way up there. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y3KJ7d2qBoA

That's a sweet song and a great one for a slow dance.

Classic. 👍🏼 I bet your wife would dance with you to that if you take the Christmas tree down on January 31st.

😁

She did say the other day, “I can’t believe it’s still up.” The first salvo has been fired.

Ronnie Milsap, Lost in the Fifties Tonight.

reply

I don't know that song but I love Ronnie Milsap. I'll have to check it out.

reply

Please do ! You can find it on YouTube. I also love “ There’s no Gettin Over Me”. Don’t know if it would be considered a slow dance song.

reply

Yeah, that's one of his great hits.

reply

I was once involved in setting him up in concert. And yeah, I believe he played that number that night. I definitely recall the title. He's got a beautiful, resonant voice, perfect for a slow song.

reply

Beautiful voice for any slow song! One of my favorites, maybe not a slow dance song, is “Prisoner of the Highway”. The irony of a a man born blind singing his heart out about being a truck driver!

That song always makes me a bit teary eyed.

reply

Not familiar with that one. Going to look it up. As a former truck driver myself and having a grandmother that was blind, I can relate to that. Plus, I'm very much into irony. I had to have double cataract surgery a couple of winters ago. I was driving just fine, had become somewhat used to the blurry vision. I thought a new pair of glasses would fix it. The doc said, "...no, not this time." I didn't realize how bad my vision had become. I was just a step away from being considered legally blind.
