shareThe new Top Gun and Mission Impossible movies are great and certainly don't fit into that mold. It doesn't happen as often as it should, but it does happen.
shareYes, I thought maverick is a perfect example.
I didn't like Indiana Jones flick, but it seems like it was just movie fun also.
Just tired of seeing what this new cancel everything woke bs world is doing to ruin everything. Oh well. Their children will run the opposite direction and correct it. Natural selection always wins in the end.

(Just having fun there, don't go political)
I totally enjoyed Indiana Jones - I know some complained about the female lead, but I didn't have a problem with her.
It does seem that it's necessary to be a fantasy, sci-fi, adventure film to avoid the PC crap. Unfortunately, kids animation films haven't escaped.
I hardly notice the female lead, was no problem to me. IMHO he just seemed to old for it to be great like the older movies. that's just me.
shareIf it was up to Hollywood, I'd say it was definitely the latter. Thankfully they seem absolutely determined to run themselves out of business, so maybe someone will pick up their slack in the near future.
shareHonestly, going back to mid budget movies is the most sensible solution.
Studios like A24 & Blumhouse are doing a pretty decent job in that regard.
I'm not saying let's stop with blockbuster movies but holy shit, not every movie needs to cost $200+ million.
It's crazy how many movies this summer cost an insane amount of money to produce
Thankfully we live in a world, where, so far, you can mine the past for good movies while waiting for better movies to come out.
Just keep ignoring the pap - Hollywood loves money and if people ain't paying for what they're putting out, they'll get the message.
Seeing no change in the near term, Hollywood has injected the left's racist identity politics into mainstream movies. Nevertheless, you can occasionally come across films that remain untainted by progressivism.
shareI watched Evil Dead Rise the other day. It never occurred to me until I saw someone make the comment online afterwards, that there are no black people in the film. I've been racking my brain since, but I don't think there are. I'm surprised they got away with that.
shareI still don't get why white people can't make all white films, black people cant make all black films, hispanic, chinese, japanese, gay, women, whatever should totally be allowed to cater to their race/sex. nothing RACIST about doing that. compared to shoving all races into one film, trying to please everyone, and pleasing no one? that's just bad business.
I've watched (and enjoyed) PLENTY of nearly all black films that obviously and purposeful cater and are aimed at the black audience. never thought a thing about it. or cared. until all the racist anti-racism people showed up and started calling me racist ... just for being white... while I enjoy paying to see black's films. i watched and enjoyed a subtitled chinese action sci-fi last just week. im so racist! hahahaha
this world had gone full moron mode.
Wouldn't you say Barbie & Oppenheimer are "white people" films? Mission Impossible? The Flash? Indiana Jones. Whatever other big movies this summer alone. If you see movies by prominent white directors/writers, such as Nolan, Spielberg, Abrams, Scott, Fincher, Scorsese, Anderson, Coens, etc, then you can be assured of significant whiteness. These people still make the biggest films, consistently. Spielberg's producing the new Color Purple remake with Oprah, sure, but that certainly doesn't erase Bridge of Spies, The Post, or The Fabelmans.
Moron mode, indeed... morons like you everywhere creating outrage over perceived slights and imagined issues.
The real issue at play here is that you're still in favor of segregation, and are in denial about that. So many sad posters here are—crying in their beer about Making America White Again. lmao
interesting. and how would you say ALLOWING groups to make films specifically for thier group is "segregation"? or am I reading you wrong?
I get that from your implied DESEGREGATION as the shoehorning in of expected ALL RACES into movies for check box sake as being the opposite? Or, again, am I misinterpretting it?
Segregation is more of a social thing, not a film thing.
When I watched THEY CLONED TYRONE, it was mostly black.... was that film "segregating" as well? I did not see it that way. But, it starred mostly blacks, and the dialog and culture was definitely more aimed to a black audience - but I am totally okay with that, and don't care one way or the other. but if someone cant SEE that it was, they are a fucking moron. It was very much highly representative of black society, than of japanese, chines, indian, or white culture. and it was completely obvious. again I see nothing wrong with that, and enjoyed the film.
but I support segregation, I guess. I'm probably racist too.
THEY NEVER STOPPED BEING GOOD OR FUN...YOU JUST GOT OLDER...YOUR FAVORITES ARE SET...YOUR NOSTALGIA IS IN EFFECT AND THE WORLD HAS CHANGED.
shareYOUR NOSTALGIA IS IN EFFECT
Don't worry. Sooner or later, people are gonna dump this woke shit and start making films people like again. Now that the studios have seen how much money they can lose by following the woke cult and trying to get a high ESG score, they've found out that the investment money Blackrock and Vanguard have given them will not make up for the serious box office losses they've been suffering. It was nothing more than a pyramid scheme everyone but them saw coming a mile away.
shareTHERE IS NO CONSPIRACY...THERE IS NO TREND OF MAKING LOSER FILMS FOR THE SAKE OF ANYTHING...TIMES CHANGE...ART CHANGES WITH THEM...IF YOU HATE ALL NEW FILMS IT JUST MEANS YOU ARE OLD.

If you don't like the films you're watching, watch different films. There are loads made every year. Some of them must be more to your tastes than whatever it is you're kvetching about.
There is only so much screen space out there, and only so much screen time. The fun GOOD movies have been squeezed out by not fun, not good movies pushing agendas.... see what I am saying? You can sell more, and make better movies by NOT catering to any small, whiney, insignificant niche groups.
Yes, there are a couple of fun, big romps per year now, but maybe you were not alive where there was 10 to 20 great films every year. More screens now, same time amont though, and what's it filled with?
Silly agenda movies, shoehorning in as many races as possible, then tanking when most races just don't care about that.

AWW...THE SCARY BROWN FOLKS ARE WRECKING YOUR MOVIES?
shareNo, I've no idea what you're talking about. I'm not entirely sure you do either.
shareI didn't explain it clearly?
Let's say there is only 100 hours of TIME MAXIMUM in all the theaters per year to play two hour movies. In the past, 50 hours were FUN, action adventure films (still the best selling genre BTW) and the other 50 hours were split tween all the other gernes.
NOW DAYS, 20 hours are used up by action adventure releases and there are a bunch more other films like women remaking ghost busters, gay films EXPECTING straight audiences, animated films pushing other agendas.... that means 30 hours LESS fun, action adventure films, more niche stuff that no one has asked for that takes up the time, and tanks in the box office.
Does that make more sense now?
ONLY TO YOU.
