Name a really good obscure film.

Name a film that a lot of people might not have seen that you thought was really good.

Gang Related. I thought it was really good. Don't think it's a very well known film, good story, good performances and just overall very enjoyable.

reply

I agree with you on Gang Related. I've seen it three times. Good story, acting, plot twists and ending.

The Man from Earth (2007)

Its low budget and just a bunch of people sitting around talking, but one of them has walked the earth for thousands of years.

I've only ever seen it once but its very memorable. It's currently free on Prime and I plan to watch it again soon.

reply

I saw it.

reply

How did you like it?

reply

I didn't. I thought I would (of course, I go into every movie thinking that), and I thought everything was there in place, and I love movies with heavy dialogue (I don't need "movement"), but my interested waned as it went on. Especially the "twist" at the end. Even his surname was Oldman :)

6/10

That’s a good one though I found the ending a bit abrupt.

Good one!

although somewhat dated there are to many thread titles to call Gang related obscure, the movie had 2pac in it for *** sake. a movie with little to no discussion is what should be considered for this Thread. Ready For War '19

Weird. I picked Bullet (1996) for my choice, and guess who's in it lol??

I enjoyed that - thanks. I was surprised when von Sternberg's name turned up at the end of the titles but it probably explains a lot about the film. Keiko, Akemi Negishi, was very cute and surprisingly nude at times - I wonder if he got away with it because it was a narrated 'foreign' film?

reply

Glad you saw it! Thanks for giving it a chance!

She was very beautiful, but I'm guessing they let it go because it was "tasteful"? :)
Possibly the "foreign" label, and maybe the academic label, since he was the professor. This was Jim Morrison's favorite movie, and von Sternberg was his professor. Oddly enough, I could never get into any of the other movies I tried to watch.
