Do you know anyone who hates a universally liked actor/actress?

I know someone who loathes Emma Stone. I don't get it. There's never been controversy with her, she doesn't seem fake, she seems likable and she never gets political. What's there to hate?

reply

I cannot stand Adrien Brody, uggh he’s just super annoying, his performance in Dario Argento’s Giallo (09) is one for the smug record books.

reply

Well, he did kiss a girl on live TV without her consent.

reply

I didn't know Brody was considered well-liked. I've never liked him. He's one of those whose presence actually puts me off watching a movie.

reply

He’s won a bunch of awards including an Oscar but that was some years ago. Maybe you’re right and he’s not such a big deal anymore.

reply

I cannot stand Kevin Costner or Edward Norton. I did hate Brad Pitt but he kind of redeemed himself in my eyes with Once Upon A Time In Hollywood.

reply

You didn't even like Fight Club or Dances With Wolves?

reply

I hated both of them.

reply

Not even Se7en?

reply

I love Se7en however Pitt sucked in it. A film can be good but have individual pieces that are bad.

reply

Fight Club is a near masterpiece in my opinion.

reply

I don't like Harrison Ford. He is so boring and monotone

reply

also smug

reply

Ditto, not really a fan of Ford (apart from in Blade Runner).

reply

He just seems too out of it for me to dislike him.

reply

I admire his indifference to celebrity, but as a performer he bores me

reply

Before his loathsome ways were revealed, Kevin Spacey had a vehement detractor in this guy:

reply

Spoilers. Just kidding I've seen the movie.

reply

Got a buddy who hasn't seen a film with Robert Downey Jr. in it in decades because he still carries a grudge against him for hitting on his gf while drunk at a bar back in the day. Downey's been on the wagon for ages and my buddy has been married to a different woman for almost twenty years. If I ever run in to RDJ I will try to get him to call my buddy and work it out if only for Kiss Kiss Bang Bang.

reply

I like him in Zodiac.

reply

The guy's a damn good actor who's been in many great movies. I just have a special love for KKBB. At least this mental hang-up isn't very life-altering. But it is interesting...

reply

He kids of acts the same in most movies though.

reply

The same could be said about most non-character actors, I suppose. One man's trash... etc., etc.

reply

I understand your friend, something in the way he talk and act make me want to slap him.

reply

Did RDJ hit on your gf too? :D He never mentioned anything about his acting or mannerisms...

reply

Your buddy should take it as a compliment if anything. I could understand if she had cheated on him, but otherwise it's just a cool story to tell

Maybe he still has feelings for his ex?

reply

Right? Believe me, I've made this argument with him to no avail. Don't get me started. He's full of weird quirks, but who isn't? "Normal" people are boring.

Not that I *enjoy* other people ogling my gf, but I can't really *blame* them. At the end of the day it's a compliment to her and myself, really.

reply

I believe there are some Tom Hanks haters out there. But I don't know anyone personally who does.

reply

Yep, can't stand him. He's another who'll put me off watching a movie.

reply

Any particular reason why you don't like him?

reply

I can't really put my finger on it. I know next to nothing about his private life or politics. I don't recall any seriously adverse publicity. He just really turns me off.

reply

There are rumours about pedophilia about him. And they bring up Epstein Island a lot.

reply

Well, he did bang Marcia Brady's cheerleader girlfriend...

reply

YOU CREEPER FUCK.🙄

reply

shut it down! get him out!

reply

"I don't speak English either".

reply

I don't hate Tom Hanks, but I don't really like him.

reply

i'm not a fan of hanks either (i dont hate the guy). as mrmojo said below about keanu.... my first impressions of hanks being bosom buddies, splash, one red shoe, big.... i didnt even like him as a goofy comedian. i surely cant view him in serious roles. i'd rather have had Steve Guttenburg....

if Goots had landed Philadelphia in '93 the world would have been a better place.

reply

Here's one!🖐

reply

This is going to sound strange but true. I first saw Keanu Reeves in Bill and Ted’s Excellent Adventure, then as a surfer guy in Point Break. Then he was in Speed, which I did not like. So when The Matrix came around all I could think about was here’s this guy who yelled “there’s a bomb on the bus!” In a futuristic role now, and it ruined it for me. I’ve never seen another one of his movies since.

I don’t dislike him but I just don’t care to see any of his movies. Well honestly, I don’t watch many movies at all after the year 2000 anyway. For that matter, I don’t think I’ve seen Tom Cruise in anything since Interview With the Vampire in the 90’s.

reply

Keanu is a terrible actor but he's likable. Has time for his fans too.

reply

He is okay in roles like John Wick, but even though I really like My Own Private Idaho, and Much Ado About Nothing, I would prefer to never have to hear Reeves try to do Shakespearian speak again. Maybe have those movies remade as leaving them as is, and just replacing Reeves. Or maybe just dubbing him??

reply

Movie star look: 10/10
Fighting capabilities: 10/10
Work ethic: 10/10
Saying actual dialogue: 4/10

reply

Exactly. He seems like such a great guy though, I hate to say anything about his acting.

reply

All of these things!
I love the movie Dangerous Liaisons but Keanu record-scratches it into a high school play.

I will give him credit for a good job of acting in Something's Gotta Give, A Scanner Darkly, and The Gift (and I wasn't unhappy with his version of Constantine).

I like the guy.

reply

I can't stand watching Tom Cruise. I've nothing against the guy per se. He seems to have time for his fans, and he comes across as affable enough in interviews. Okay, he's got some weird beliefs, but that's his business. But as soon as I see him trying to be an action man it puts my back up. To me it never works; he's like a boy surrounded by men. And it really grates with me. And a weird thing; I've answered similar posts in the past and named actors I don't like, and 99% of the time the one that gets jumped on with demands of 'WHY??' is Cruise, as though I've broken some unwritten law! 😂

reply

I'm a Tom fan and his #1 defender.

reply

The Scientologists are gonna get ya, lol.

reply

😊

reply

I like him as an actor, but his exploitation of the scientology slaves, especially the children, is beyond the pale.
