What do you think
of people who won't watch older movies simply because they don't reflect modern times?
shareof people who won't watch older movies simply because they don't reflect modern times?
shareThey are missing out on a lot of great films. I don't think someone can be a true film buff if they don't watch older films.
shareThe opposite of that is me. π
shareI wouldn't even consider them movie fans. Maybe they don't deserve to enjoy life. They're people I won't hang out with.. They probably have this same approach with life, and live like robots.
shareWho in the fuck are you to determine who does or doesn't deserve to enjoy life, you extremely arrogant, narrow minded prick? Besides that, you're a bald-faced liar. You're no professional and multi-published writer. So who would want to hang out with your fake ass?
shareDole out that social justice. Go get'em, tiger! The name calling really elevates the truth of your position. :)
shareYou took it upon yourself to enlist one of the most prolific name callers on the board, and tried to cite him as an example of a "real man". What does that say about your position?
sharepfff like I pay attention to such things... why do you let me get to you anyway?
Dave, this conversation can serve no purpose anymore. Goodbye.
I find that pretty damn strange. I sometimes watch movies specifically because they capture the era they're told in. Movies can be their own perfect little time capsule, they take you back to a different time on purpose. Why would you expect a movie set in the 40s to reflect today? Not that it's not possible, but you get my gist.
shareI think they believe that people now are somehow special, and they don't realize that people now are the same as they were 3000 years ago. They're fools without much wisdom.
shareThere are people like that??
Meh. Their loss.
My partner, for some weird reason, won't watch any movies made before 1968. He also won't watch black and white movies. I mean he's not a movie fan like I am, but yeah. I've mentioned to him that he has no issues reading books written hundreds of years ago, so what's the difference? He always has some stupid excuse, and I keep telling him it's his loss. He's popped into the room when I'm watching older movies, and sometimes he'll sit and watch with me. I usually don't tell him until after that it's outside of his movie range.
shareOh well π€·ββοΈ
shareThat person is probably young and still in their formative years.
...and their is nothing wrong with that, they are still in the process of "fermenting" their world view. For me watch a 1950's movie in my early 20's (1989-94) would be a stretch.
The issue is that a good deal of the movies made today are homogenized, for a lack of a better term. They don't really reflect the entire scope of human nature.
Young film buffs must be made aware that Hollywood today just doesn't want to offend....
