I've heard that jet pack is all but impossible, except for very brief flights like under a minute. Rocket fuel has to not only lift the weight of the payload, but also its own weight and the weight of all the fuel that hasn't been burned yet. That means an exponential effect on the required fuel mass, like the effect of compound interest accumulating on a principal sum. There's a reason the Space Shuttle's external tank was so huge, and it used liquid hydrogen, the fuel with the highest known impulse per unit mass. It wouldn't be practical for Bond's jet pack though, it has to be stored at something like -450 F.
