Sex scenes in movies, yay or nay?

I honestly think Hollywood needs to evolve beyond showing an actresses breasts or erotic imagery to sell a movie. To me, sex scenes always seem unnatural, like we're peering in on something we shouldn't be, I've never honestly seen one that the movie wouldn't be better without.

I always look forward to those special moments in film.

Not really into sex scenes. No problem with (hot) female nudity - especially in horror movies.

Only if it's not tacked on. I hate when movies show sex scenes but they had sex with the bra on, or in the morning they will wake up naked only to cover up with the blanket. Who does that?? Ridiculous.

Just remove the sex scene altogether if you don't want to show nudity at all. Movies are fine without sex scenes.

I kind of agree if it’s a gratuitous scene which adds nothing to the plot. That said, sometimes it’s integral, like in Basic Instinct and Fatal Attraction. Those films wouldn’t really have the same impact if the sexual scenes weren’t included.

Definitely yes if it’s Asian Babes Vol. VIII

i admire your dedication to that particular title.

It’s my ‘go to’ title. It works on so many levels.

What would Basic Instinct be without its hot steamy sex scenes.
In general though I agree with you.
I really never get the fascination with seeing sex scenes that can never get to the real feeling of sex and are just there to titillate viewers. I guess I am old fashioned and that I would rather see the kind of scene where the camera pulls away to the breaking waves.

There was a really funny scene in the movie "Fading Gigolo" where there is a implied sex scene, and then the camera cuts away to a guy cleaning the sidewalk with a hose ... it was perfectly timed and hilarious. That is a funny movie, written and directed by John Tuturro, with Woody Allen in it too as well as Sofia Vergara.

They work when they are part of the storyline and not just forced in to try and get horny viewers.

That said, when reading different forums, there are still a lot of people who will watch a movie purely if there is nudity in it which is weird considering the vast amount of free porn on the internet

This is the best analogy I've come up with to describe a ton of nudity in an effort to improve a piece of shit movie.... It's like being at a theater, in the dark, and someone is masturbating you throughout the movie. It feels good, but you don't know who's doing the jerkin', but at the end, you think to yourself (as the lights come on)

"Good movie!"

If you look at how shitty movies are nowadays, they need stories like, "You get to see her boobs!" (especially if its an actress many like, especially if she has never shown her stuff in a movie)... I never saw the movie "Rumblefish", but I probably remember it because I kept reading "Halle Berry is topless!" and so it grosses 150 million worldwide. And I never even saw the piece of shit, not even a trailer!
