Am I the only one who HATES hardwood floors?

Personally, I hate hardwood floors. I grew up with carpet and I love it. So much more comfortable. In fact, I currently live in a house with hardwood floors, and I am miserable. It seems every modern house these days is all hardwood.

I love to stretch out on the floor and roll around. Can't do this with hardwood.

Another thing too is that the house tends to get alot colder in winter with hardwood floors.

Carpet is your friend. What do you think?

reply

Do you have any idea how many bacteria per square inch reside in your carpet? But yeah, I love a thick shag!

reply

Yes. I hate them as well.

reply

I don't hate them, but I prefer carpet. Is getting a rug or two not an option?

reply

Rugs are a great option. You can vacuum them as you see fit. or pick them up and clean the whole floor.

Take my head for example. It's very clean without the rug. Yet I have one because it's warm and comfortable and pleasant to look at, at least I hope so.

reply

Keeping warm over keeping clean, now that's a small price toupee.

No, you're not the only one, but you're part of a tiny minority.

PS Buy some carpets. Problem solved, and you're welcome.

King's Towers:
Downstairs: -
Entrance hall, cloakroom, bathroom, kitchen / diner - tiled.
Lounge, media room, rumpus room, office, stairs - carpet.
First floor: -
Bathrooms - tiled.
Landing, bedrooms, walk-in wardrobe - carpet.
Second Floor: -
Spiral staircase - wood.
Manpad - carpet.
Kingshed (pub) - laminated (carpet under pool table)

reply

“Manpad - carpet.”

I did the same. My room is the only one in the house that’s carpeted.

reply

All our carpets are really deep shag (insert pun), which is lovely to get your toes into (cue endless quips).

reply

Carpet is gross.

Hardwood and laminate flooring is much easier to keep clean and tidy

Buy a couple of nice area rugs

reply

Hardwood is easier to clean, and there is a nice Aesthetic quality to it.
Actually, in my perfect world (where I have $$), would like my sunken Living Room to be hardwood, offset by the rest of my small home bathed in some easy to keep clean (cheap/boring) carpet.
And I'd leave the old carpet in the closets just to make some oddball statement about the random decisions homeowners can make.
