Am I the only one who HATES hardwood floors?

Personally, I hate hardwood floors. I grew up with carpet and I love it. So much more comfortable. In fact, I currently live in a house with hardwood floors, and I am miserable. It seems every modern house these days is all hardwood.

I love to stretch out on the floor and roll around. Can't do this with hardwood.

Another thing too is that the house tends to get alot colder in winter with hardwood floors.

Carpet is your friend. What do you think?

I love wood floors. When I bought my house, the first thing I did was rip out all the carpeting.

I did the same. My house is older, built when hardwood floors were standard. Today you pay big money for them.

Wood floors are easier to keep clean. Carpets are a magnet for dirt, dust and who knows what else. If something gets spilled on a carpet it soaks all the way through; you can never remove 100% of the liquid.

Very true. I had a couple of area rugs also. Easy to clean and replace if needed.

I think wood floors also look a lot nicer.

clean vs comfort.

I love carpets but they always get stained and filthy eventually. They are also allergy villains. I miss the carpeted homes of my youth but my tiled floors are easy to clean and cooler (which is great since I live in the desert).

Wood, tile, all the same. Stark and echo prone. I'd love a "carpet club" that installs fresh new carpet every two years.

hardwood floors are the in thing now. the more expensive the better if you are selling your house. tiles in the kitchen and bathroom. area rugs are great.

They can be a bit cold in the winter.

I love carpet too but hardwood is better for allergies. The first thing I did when we moved into this house (which is almost all hardwood) is get a carpet with two inch fluffy shag for the family room. I'm sure it's growing the worst allergens in there but my kids love to roll around on it.
