It's an easy scapegoat for ppl to use as a reason to slam the movie.
Personally, I think having a lot of characters in a movie isn't inherently a good or a bad thing. You can do it well, or you can do it badly.
People shit on spidey 3 still but not on avengers, because everyone sucks marvel's dick. Spidey 3 was a bad film, but it wasn't cause it had too many villains. The problem was that 2 of those villains weren't done well at all, and the movie was just a hodgepodge.
Wow. you're insane.
I've always wanted to see Clay-Face, and now's the time with all the advancements in CGI.
If this film ends up being the dark, detective noir that it's looking out, that'd be totally rife for a sequel with clay-face, with batman trying to figure out the presence of a shapeshifter.
You're not really a batman fan, are ya?
Agreed on Cop Land, and I didn't realize that either. I looked him up just now after your earlier comment, and I didn't realize he did Identity either.
Holy shit, I didn't realize that. I don't think he's ever directed or written a bad film either. i shouldn't be having hope about this movie
I see what you're saying. But you're again projecting onto the film for some strange reason.

we are to accept that in a mere few hours he's able to have a character change so great

You assume he had a character change. He did not.

that an intelligent girl like Claire would actually warm up to him enough to join with him romantically

You imply that Claire is smart enough not to want to be with an abusive, selfish, manipulative asshole. There is no reason to think this.
You imply that she warmed up to him because he changed in ANY way. This is not what happened.

I call that bad writing, but if you think it's great scripting and love the movie, that's great; more power to ya.

I attempted to have a rational discussion with you, but if you want to be condescending and intellectually ignorant, than more power to ya!
lmao yeah, he didn't finish either movie, but trolls this board. What a weirdo.
It's really hard to take your critique seriously. Obviously, different strokes for different folks and all so it's fair if some people don't enjoy the film. But your criticisms are inherently subjective. It didn't need a rewrite simply because YOU don't like it.
For example
"ike the Fonz or Vinnie Barbarino, but he's such an annoying, loud-mouthed jerk that he loses all sympathy"
This isn't a bad thing. He's a shithead. He's insecure. He is NOT a nice person. All because you wanted to sympathize doesn't mean that he needs to garner sympathy.
"The fact that the two end up together at the end adds insult to injury."
You act as though men like Bender are necessarily terminally single, or that they don't verbally abuse their partners who still stay with them.
This alone really makes your opinion on the film's script difficult to accept.
I can't help but feel that this was made up.
Trailer was well filmed but there was absolutely nothing exciting by how this was looking. Looked very generic in my opinion.
Pretty much fucking this lol.
Hmm, it's a tricky bit. I've known some ppl who can't stand cruise but do enjoy Collateral, but there's some ppl who tried but can't get into it because he's half the movie lol.
That's a good point too regarding his limited options/appeal, but I think you're right about the acting bit. He's dialing shit in at this point. Doing his stunts. He's become a caricature of himself. XD
I forgot about Tropic Thunder. I guess when I say villain, I'm specifically think of the cold, sinister persona he had in Collateral (and a few brief scenes in Mission Impossible 2 due to facemaker shenanigans). I can see him doing more of the Tropic character for sure. Don't see him doing many more Collaterals unfortunately.
Yeah, the story they were setting up with Jekyll's character/organization, man it would have been sick to have seen him engage with Luke Evans' dracula. (Though I think by the time The Mummy came out, they were gonna ignore that movie anyways XD)
lmao, I guess I'm biased towards two things: the trope of the conflicted hero/villain, and tom cruise as a villain. Another reason why I'm disappointed in the end of the dark universe. I think tom cruise works better as a villain than a hero...but...we never really see much of that side of him, and probably never will at this point. (Unless he acts against type when in his 70s or some shit)
You're a weird guy.
I'd recommend watching the movie yourself. I think it's very clear from this installment that both parties have made mistakes, and both parties have made sacrifices. They fight as people do. OP's just biased as hell.
And no, the female character is not vapid lol.
Why would you bump such an insane thread? I can't believe someone actually wrote this 4 years ago, on this movie's board lol.
lol this. One of the key turning points was of that finale was Walt finally admitted and confirmed that.
I thought it looks weird but I wouldn't have thought too much of it.
