Turned out, you'd be so true. Incoherent expectations really affect people's opinion on this. The guy trying to argue with me is trying to establish that in some franchises, viewers can accept the absurdities, but here, because it started off "normal", people can't accept how it ended up.
Which is fine. But that's totally on the viewer. There's definitely problems with these movies, and some of them are distinctly better than others. But you have to work within the confines of what the movie is purporting to be. And Fast 9 is trying to be ridiculous. It's fine to hate it, like Batman and Robin. I fucking hate it. But I acknowledge that Schumacher was intentionally making a cheesy campy movie. But I'm not gonna sit around and complain and bash it for being something it wasn't.

Encouraging delusions is not inherently harmful. In fact, you are to treat delusions with respect unless the delusions are inherently dysfunctional or destructive.
You can't presume to know whether or not the mental stage has improved or worsened and if the physical mutilation has led to a mental improvement, then it's a pass.

This is a terrible argument. It's very possible the surgery worsened her mental state. But maybe it didn't. Could just be there was a lot of things going wrong that you didn't know about. It wasn't even someone you really knew, so you have no idea the extent to which they were suffering. Hell, IRL ppl don't even realize until it's too late how suicidal some people are.

No, it's not hard to go with the flow actually. Mission Impossible has gone through the same transformation from MI:1, which was effectively an espionage film and not even an action film. But people are able to go with the flow. It's just easier for people to make fun of the Fast series.
