The old homeless man on the couch Ed Carlsen was so bloody annoying, no wonder he drove his wife crazy. I am unable to believe even for a second that Richard Gere could beat up Andy Garcia. I don't like this film because I don't think Bilko is a positive, relatable character. Was there supposed to be something wrong with Laura Lee? I guess animals don't have "free will" in this universe. View all posts >

Maximilian Schell is NOT an Arab - he is SWISS. This post is very old and it's likely that you will never get to see my reply. Anyway... There is a quick shot of Dusan's face where he looks at something behind Devoe, which alerts Devoe to the presence of someone behind him. Then he quickly turns around and fires at Dusan's brother. "Yet he shoots and strangles scjs in a plot where there is no fall guy to blame" Actually, there are. When FBI Director Voyles and CIA director Gminsky are briefing the President, they mention that members of a militia group named "Underground Army" are in the D.C. area. Also, the SC judges have plenty of enemies, hence the protection. Aside from this, I agree with you that the car bomb makes no sense in the novel or in the film. In the novel, Khamel plans to assassinate Darby Shaw either on the riverboat or after the ride, not right there on the riverfront amidst hundreds of people. The film goes for a ridiculous closeup shot only in order to pull a twist when Khamel himself is killed. Also, we are led to believe that all those people pursuing Darby Shaw mean to murder her but in the end it is revealed that at least one of them is a CIA operative who killed Khamel and saved Darby. It's quite confusing. "Donovan's" was inscribed on the matchbook. "Donovan's" is the name of the restaurant that the cops are shown frequenting at the beginning of the film. Stallone sees the matchbook and puts two and two together, that the killer had been there, observing them. Bain was amoral, psychotic and obsessed with being no. 1. There was no place for romance in his life - at least not a loving, caring type of romance. I can sort-of buy that he would have a mistress whom he would love to control and dominate. I was reminded of Taking Lives (2004). Early's parole officer had arranged a job for him as janitor at the college. That's why early went there. I have the same question. I hope someone answers it now, hence the bump. Before 'covfefe', there was 'coentwu'. Righteous Kill is one film that comes to my mind where it's as if they thought up the twist ending first and then wrote the whole story to support it. That's why it sucked so thoroughly despite having two giants Pacino and DeNiro. View all replies >
