My liquids intake routine, just about every day.
As far as plain water, 36 to 40 ounces.
25 ounces of coffee per day ( using distilled water in so brewing )
A half liter of sugar free flavored water.
6-8 ounces of red wine ( as a nightcap )
355 Ml bottle of water on my nightstand to swig from if/when I get thirsty at night.
Mayonnaise. That's it.
OK, slimy/runny eggs too.
'Last Summer' - Just saw it on TCM.
Yellowjackets - They're aggressively evil, and have no predators that depend on them. They'll not be missed, and the ecosystem will do just fine.

Other than at funeral services:
First and only dead body was at the scene following a car/motorcycle collision. I came upon a small traffic jam and the two lanes of traffic were now being squeezed into one. Inching forward to the merge, I saw a big fancy Harley Davidson bike on its side, and near it, barely a yard or two from me, was a man laying face up on the ground, lifeless, and blood coming from his mouth.
A day later, it turns out that the motorcyclist was hit by a another motorist, and that the other motorist just drove off, with a partial description of the vehicle and a request for any info witnesses may be able to provide.
Several months ago, rode the light rail system here. Had to go downtown and I hate driving in rush hour traffic. I also use it if I'm going to go the brewpubs there as well. I don't want any complications to arise due to drinking/driving.
Ride a horse.
It may look easy but once seated, your perch is much more precarious that it looks. It's like trying to balance yourself on a unicycle, and just falling off of it while it's standing still could hurt you really bad. Doing so while it is running or even trotting can turn you into a cripple for life, assuming your head doesn't get bashed open.
I was socially pressured into riding one by a relative who owned several horses and they wanted me to ride one with them. Was very uneasy the entire time.
Wayne's World
"No way!"
( Retort ) "Way!"
Simple I know, but one of those "had to be there moments" that just works.
First and only time...about a year and a half ago.
Was having dull burning pains in the center of my chest that came and went over a several week period, which due to surrounding circumstances I was convinced they were digestive issues. After realizing this was no passing phase, I went to my doctor, whereupon after an exam she told me to go the the hospital right away.
I did, and 3 days later I emerged with a stent in one of my coronary arteries. All those pain episodes were in fact mild heart attacks. Due to my historically good bloodwork numbers, how I ended up with such a blockage was a mystery to me and the medical staff.
In order, of favorite to least favorite:
Autumn/Fall - Wonderful. Progressively cooler days, crisp nights. Nice color.
Spring - Fall with pollen. Nice climate but you get that melencholy "sunday night feeling" you get as a kid knowing the school week begins anew in that the days are going to become progressively hotter.
Winter - Winters are relatively mild where I am with not a great deal ( if much of any ) of snow, and I like the bracing coolness. It does get certifiably cold ( well below freezing ) but I'm still outdoors getting things done. I can always put more clothing on.
Summer - Ugh. Oppressive heat and humidity. I work outside mostly, so on my free time I'm outdoors only when necessary, such as yard work and the like. I do NOT enjoy leisure time outdoor activities in the summer.
Jamaica in 1969. My relatives were relocated there by my uncle,s employer in the Bauxite mining business. They lived in this mountaintop town in a new subdivision of modern houses where it seemed most of the dwellers were foreigners, mostly the US and England. Back in the US we were in the process of moving to a different location and there was about a month period before we could occupy our house, we visited/lived with our relatives in Jamaica for about a month.
Was an interesting experience. I was also really glad to have over a month off without school too.
Checking in from the US.
Watched it when it first came out. My friends and I liked The Who, and so at first when we heard they were the soundtrack of the movie, we wanted to see it. I liked the movie in its own right, and watch it every time it makes its rounds on TCM.
Alive & Kickin'
NYC area bar band in the 80s. Played rock cover songs but ruined the songs by playing them with a disco-y beat/motif, ostensibly to make them easier to dance to. They also had an annoying habit of working the crowd with between song conversations, usually in the form of "How any people here.....?"
Cheesy as hell.
It's actually one of my more favorite episodes.
That the characters often treat each other poorly is/was a running joke of this show throughout its life, and so I put such concerns aside and focus on the comedy.
- The normally mousy and demure Pat smoking. Talking with the cigarette bobbing up and down in her mouth, readily whipping out her lighter to the horrified members of her family.
- Marie's bawling out Robert just before Pat's "outing" of being a smoker
- Pat and Hank being brutally frank with each other after Hank attempts to bawl out Pat
- The normally stern Hank letting himself go as he enthusiastically describes blowing off fireworks.
The episode always has my laughing heartily.
Queen
Judas Priest
Iron Maiden
Toy Dolls
Diamond Head
'!2 Angry Men' ( 1997 )
It works good both as a remake, and a movie that stands on its own.
Interesting post, interesting observations, especially in describing the goal of mood setting of the audience.
This also piques my interest in seeing 'The Sterile Cuckoo', as even though I'm not a fan of romance movies, it sounds interesting.
I don't find much of any similarity between the two themes, but I am assuming you are referring to the 'Colonel Bogey March' theme on BOTRK and the recurring theme on TGE.
As an aside, I find the theme on the Great Escape much "jauntier" and "lilty" somehow, and lively in a way that clashes with the overall mood of a prison camp within Nazi Germany. Almost comedic even.
Pane con Milza: Sandwich in Sicily made with a meat loaf of sorts made from beef spleen and trachea, simmered in beef broth and then thinly sliced. Tastes much better than it sounds.
