The story was always going to be shit since they don't have the rights to the Silmarillion and are forced to make things up as they go. I saw a video were someone described the script as feeling like it was written by 90's sitcom writers who never studied classical literature.
I haven't seen anyone complain about her being a warrior, they're complaining that the male Elves are made to look incompetent in the name of girl power. Male Elves in the books slayed balrogs, killed dragons and fought Morgoth in one-to-one melee combat. The show depicts them as useless weaklings and cowards.
One thing I've noticed across social media are people trying to excuse black Hobbits with "Tolkien said they were browner of skin". Guess who else is browner of skin on average than English people: French, Portuguese, Spanish, Italians, Greeks, etc. It's quite a leap to ignore darker skinned Europeans in favor of African Hobbits.
There are multiple times specific Elves were described having long hair. There's never an instance of them described with short hair.
They don't, the only people actually fighting in real life are extremists on either side. Like antifa vs. Patriot Prayer. My aunt is anti-Trump and went to one of those pink pussy hat marches, but when we see each other politics doesn't even get brought up.
The rating will be artificially boosted to trick people into thinking they're the outsider for hating the show.

You can forget about any major story elements being explained. Amazon doesn't have the rights to the Silmarillion so there are going to be a ton of things that seem like plot holes. Like you mentioned the show doesn't even properly explain why the Elves invaded Middle Earth - because Amazon isn't allowed to say why.

As usual when a show or movie bombs they start blaming the fans rather than themselves.
"The show is failing so let's blame it on racism." Tolkien said his stories were meant to be an ancient mythology for England, everyone should be white unless they come from Harad or something. Elves were described as being fair-skinned with grey eyes, and Tar-Miriel was explicitly described as being "fairer than silver or ivory or pearls" yet in the show she's black. Also the people crying about racist backlash are the same ones who throw a fit whenever a white person plays a non-white role.
It doesn't cost extra. I have Amazon Prime and was able to watch the first two episodes. And that was more than enough to decide the show is a pile of shit.

The story makes no sense because Amazon doesn't have the rights to the Silmarillion. They only have the rights to the appendices which are basically just a bunch of notes. There are many critical events and characters that Amazon isn't even allowed to mention, so they basically have to make up their own shitty story.
