Lol, that was a bad prediction. I think they could make a good film adaptation of Moonraker with an evil Elon Musk-type character as the villain, but there always seems to be a backlash when they go too far in the sci-fi direction. I will also add that despite what the Craig apologists say, there is absolutely no correlation between quality and quantity in this series. The series seemed to be at its best when they were churning them out every couple of years. The long gaps which have now become the norm do not seem to increase the film's quality in any way. The films have about a 50/50 chance of being good regardless of whether the producers took 1, 2, 5, or 6 years to release a new one. Well, I think the "serious" and "realistic" movies that we are bombarded with now are a sign of how sick our civilization is. The fact that we can no longer laugh or smile while watching a Bond film is absolutely shocking. The books are too outdated in many respects. Moonraker (the novel), for example, was already extremely outdated by the time the film came out in 1979, so Eon had no choice but to radically change the story. There's not much from the novels that could be adapted in modern times. All they can really do is replicate some of the interpersonal interactions between characters, such as how they took character traits and dialogue from Hugo Drax in the Moonraker novel and applied them to Kamal Khan in the Octopussy film. Some of the file sizes look normal for a feature length film. I think Craig, Purvis/Wade, Babs, Wilson, and the rest genuinely do think they are making art films now, akin to Schindler's List. I don't think they realize what genre they are in anymore. Bringing in some pretentious twat like Sam Mendes to direct an action spy film has to be one of the dumbest decisions ever made in the industry, but I think this choice was deliberate. Although he made two god awful films, I think he succeeded in giving Eon what they wanted and what they expected from him; pretentious postmodern pseudo-art film garbage. Also remember that the decision to bring in Danny Boyle was sort of continuing in this art film direction. I don't think Boyle is really known for his work in the action spy genre. Fukunaga, I'm afraid, is a Danny Boyle lite who is a misfit for the series. Although I generally liked True Detective S1, I don't think that kind of tone is suitable for a Bond film. Maybe she can do something with her little finger that Babs likes. It was the worst Bond film ever on its release, and then Spectre somehow outdid it and took the crown for the worst of all time. Sam Mendes should never be allowed on a film set again. More and more delays means they at least have a chance to commission a new title song. Other than the people walking out, I distinctly remember a young boy and his mom sitting behind me, and every minute or so the boy would ask his mom what the hell was going on. I knew enough of the language to sense that the kid couldn't understand who any of the characters were or what the force was. That's interesting to me because I had no such confusion when I was his age watching the OT for the first time. A lot of young kids have seen this new trilogy as their first SW films, and I really don't think Disney has created many new lifelong fans. I don't think very many people there knew or cared who Harrison Ford is. I haven't seen any of these films, and I've avoided them because I had a suspicion that this it what they would be like. Is the female character really that vapid? Somehow I'm not surprised that this "love story" is the type that gets so much fanfare in our culture. She's Quebecois... She weighs 74 pounds? I'm surprised he wouldn't have known that already. He must have at least known that Christina was there when Eric found the daughter, so it wouldn't be that much of a stretch to believe that Eric was there. The only thing that is still confusing is how Zoe seemed to not realize that Francis and Christina knew each other prior to meeting in the club. Liberals in California think that this is how average people in rural America, particularly the south, behave. The irony is that even if he did, he wouldn't have had to disclose this to anyone in this day and age. Back in 1995, knowingly spreading HIV was seen as a criminal act, but now the SJWs are pushing for the right to non-disclosure, meaning that you no longer have to tell a prospective partner that you are HIV+ unless they explicitly ask you. In some countries, this is now the law. So according to the radical SJW leftists, she didn't ask for his status, so he was under no obligation to reveal it whether he knew about it or not. I am not really a huge Cronenberg fan from what I've seen of him, but I thought Crash was one of the best films I've ever seen. I wish more of his films were like this one. Nothing complicated. They just need to get back to the traditional formula and make standalone films about one mission. Obviously new writers are needed. Purvis/Wade have been writing these crappy films since TWINE in 1999. I expect Babs will instead try to convince Craig to come back, resort to a female or "racialized" actor when he says no, and continue down the path of the interconnected daddy issues soap saga. By the time this one is finally released, a new Bond actor could have already been starting work on his third Bond film.
