Total agreement that both candidates are crooked. I had no reason to vote for either one so I stayed at home and mowed the lawn. That probably accomplished more for this country than either vote would have.
Definitely. Who do you know that's 70+ years old who's really in touch with the world? Until we start electing leaders who reflect the times, government will always be 50 years in the past.
Burk48917, sex scandals, hiring your rich friends, bowing to lobbyists, lying to the people... that *is* the establishment. Wanting to tear down the hypocrisy of DC is admirable, but you can't give someone a free pass just because he's on your team. And for the record I'm an Independant who thinks Trump as well as Bill Clinton should be shoved in a dark hole for disgracing the presidency.
Milla totally stole the show, and the comedic timing between hyper-Milla & stoic-Adrien was impeccable.
MILLA: We're gonna kick ASS man!!! You're gonna be a famous dummy guy! And I'm gonna...
ADRIEN: ventriloquist.
MILLA: --kick ass with my band!! Dude, this is gonna be our year! You can fuck me if I'm wrong!
ADRIEN: well that's ok.
Lol Hannity. He's only interested in entertaining 1 viewer: the one lying in his bathrobe eating Quarter pounders at 1600 Pennsylvania Ave ;)
The whole Hillary obsession is beyond me. But maybe they're on to something. Maybe Nixon would've survived Watergate if he spent 2 years frothing at the mouth: "Crooked Hubert Humphrey!"
If we're talking about old man makeup, how about Joseph Cotten in Citizen Kane? As the story goes, Orson Welles took so much time perfecting his own makeup (which turned out AMAZING considering he was 24 years old playing 60+ years) that Joseph only had about 2 hours in the makeup trailer. It looked so bad, Joseph ended up covering half his face for the scene. That's why he's wearing those enormous sunglasses and stupid visor on his head.
Right, this isn't just another moral scandal like Clinton's philandering or even Roy Moore cruising for some tail at the high schools. This is a direct violation of the rules of government. Any Republican who calls himself a defender of the Constitution should call out any politician, R or D, who gets elected illegally. The "don't care" attitude just exposes the faux patriots who only defend the country when it suits their interests.
I thought shotguns were a great touch. I always find scifi more realistic if the weapons are projectile based like in Aliens or Battlestar Galactica 2003 rather than "lasers" (insert Austin Powers finger quotes). I think the concept of a ray-gun was fanciful in the early days of scifi, but now almost a century after those old Flash Gordon shows we see the real evolution of firearms and it's still projectile based.
On a different note, something to bear in mind is that Outland was a loose adaptation of the old western High Noon, and I think the filmmakers deliberately tried to keep a classic, bare bones vibe despite the futuristic setting. Too many high tech gadgets and flashy effects would've distracted from the story.
Fox News hasn’t but the rest of us have. We’re now focused on the shitstorm in the White House; the one Fox wants to ignore.
What I can't fathom is how it's been well over a year and Fox/Trump News haven't gotten over Hillary Clinton ...losing.
I can see that. Sort of like what we were talking about in the Kubrick thread, glorifying serial killers goes hand in hand with shock value & visceral thrills (or glorifying rapists)
Burk48917's answer explains it all. "Trump supporters don't care one way or the other." Willful ignorance.
lol well thank you for at least making me feel like less of a freak. You're the only other person I know who has admitted to not loving it.
50s - Gimme Some Money

For me it's Cinema Paradiso. IMDb rating of 8.5, thoroughly loved by critics and the art crowd whose opinions I more or less respect. But dear lord it made me want strangle the projectionist.
Oh add to that the Fellini masterpiece 8 1/2. Same as above, excruciating. And I have a high tolerance for pain.

Haha I had the same reaction. Loved the beginning... then sorta dozed off... to be suddenly awakened by Sting yelling "I *WILL* kill him!!!"
My pick would be The Matrix Reloaded. Everything was going really cool, but when he starts flying around like superman--LITERALLY like superman with a fist in front and his cape trailing behind--I'm like, uh... yeah.
I remember seeing that movie on tv, on a rainy day at the beach, thinking my life is so dismal I'm watching some dumb b&w movie about trucks. But WOW she totally owned that flick. I agree, her last scene is one of the most chilling/shocking performances ever. "THE DOORS MADE ME DO IT!! AHAHAHA!"
This had to be a troll post. Brando over-the-top, theatrical, forced facial expressions??
I think Brando had only 1 facial expression more than Clint Eastwood.
"They Drive by Night" (1940) - Humphrey Bogart & a freakishly awesome performance by Ida Lupino
"Maximum Overdrive" (1986) - Murdering trucks. AC/DC. What more could you want.
14 year old thread bump, or should I say
BOIYOIIING
That poster is so inappropriately suggestive, I must watch the movie immediately.
