Do you think politicians are too old?

I think some of them might be a little too old - some of them are senile, others have trouble "connecting" with younger folks, some have held the same government position for very long, and other problems. But I also think older people tend to be wiser as well.

Definitely. Who do you know that's 70+ years old who's really in touch with the world? Until we start electing leaders who reflect the times, government will always be 50 years in the past.

"Older people tend to be wiser",in some cases I disagree

reply

It depends, but as a rule its typically true.

I think when you are breaking 80 its time to hang it up, but there is nothing about their job that says they cant do it at an old age. And you don't want someone too young, book smart does not make up for experience. I definitely wouldn't want anyone under 35 leading the nation or having too much power in general. Hell when they were talking about whether they should allow kids vote my feeling was I think the age for voting should probably be older and perhaps have certain requirements like not being a dependent of your parents or a guardian/benefactor. Teddy is probably as young as I would go as President, and he was a war veteran by that time.

You don't want someone too impulsive, that in fact is an issue with Trump. In many ways he acts more like younger people than someone in his 70s. He is very impulsive and quick to comment and reacts emotionally. If he said "approved" things and ran as a democrat people would probably love him.

reply

Not necessarily, but there definitely needs to be term limits for politicians. A lot of these ''old'' politicians have been in the office since the 1970s. Make it 2 terms like the president, and cut their lifetime pensions/benefits as well.

reply

Yes, yes, yes, without question, yes.
