As a woman, I find "empowering" women movies to be Norma Rae, The Color Purple, Fried Green Tomatoes, The Help, Places in the Heart and Silkwood. Those are just some examples off the top of my head; I am sure there are a lot that I overlooked. I don't know if I would go as far to say that this film degrades women ... does Death Wish, Dirty Harry, etc. degrade men? To me, a movie like Hard Candy falls into Vigilante category like Kill Bill, House on the Left, I Spit on Your Grave, etc. Of course some of these are definitely more violent than others.
He did dial 911 and hung up before the call went through. Ellen Pages' character even remarks that anyone innocent would have called 911. This just confirmed that he had something to hide.
I don't think it was necessary to kill Dwyer. I think Moreland (Hutton) realized it was out of control and had remorse when Charlie was shot and killed.
Horrible actor? Tom has shown incredible range in his acting abilities and has been nominated 3 times for Academy Awards.
An article mentioned that he had to lose 30 lbs. for the role of Pollock. I don't believe he has been sick.
And I love the TRUE stories when criminals called the cops on something that they did illegal and they ended up getting busted. Yes, there really are some stupid people out there. :)
My vote is for Zowie
I didn't realize that. This is from the Mayo Clinic website: Once a rabies infection is established, there's no effective treatment. Though a small number of people have survived rabies, the disease is usually fatal. For that reason, if you think you've been exposed to rabies, you must get a series of shots to prevent the infection from taking hold.
It is still being played on cable so I am sure there are a lot of people that remember (and even some people that might have seen it for the first time)
Doesn't matter how high, you just hit at the right angle you can do damage. A women just broke her toddlers leg sliding down the slide with her on her lap. The little kids leg had hit the side of the slide.
Thanks, I am 71. Only kidding, 53. :)
I am white with straight/thin hair. It was pure torture getting my hair brushed as a kid ... that was even using a 1/2 bottle of "no more tears" for the tangles.
I don't recall any parts that I had a challenge to hear. Maybe view it with closed captioning turned on?
Very cool. One of my former colleagues is an extra for a movie coming out in the fall; she had a great time.
He was a great supporting actor. Anyone that survives Hollywood for four decades had to do something right.
I am surprised they would block you without telling you the reason.
In Yonkers, New York we definitely got them before the end of the school year. This way we could get our friends to sign our books.
It may also depend on what part of the country you live in, your parents, etc. I had a friend that could not form a sentence without dropping an F bomb.
At the time the movie came out, 55% of homes have a TV. I know my Mom was poor growing up and when she met my Dad in the '50s she thought he was well off since his family had a TV.
I like that the alternate ending also brings the main characters together in the final scene.
